Pietermaritzburg - Oshabeni ANC Youth League leader Sifiso Khumalo was jailed for 22 years on Tuesday for the murder of two ANC KwaZulu-Natal South Coast members.

KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Pietermaritzburg acting Judge Sibusiso Mngomezulu said that while murder was a serious crime, the court had opted for a lighter sentence as Khumalo gave evidence without wasting the court’s time.

ANC leaders, including provincial secretary Sihle Zikalala and treasurer Peggy Nkonyeni, attended the proceedings.

Speaking outside the court after the sentencing, Zikalala said they felt the sentence did not fit the crime.

They should have given him 5 years for each and he would still be young enough to sort out a few more anc cadres..

What i dont understand is how can the courts only deprive a murderer of only 22 years of his life when he took the entire life of someone else!

why it was a lightish sentence is that he shot and killed anc idiots. Crime of passion I tell you...

Good job Judge Mgomezulu! Some judges seem to have forgoten what the rules of sentencing call for:balancing the personal circumstances of the accused and the seriousness of the offence;and impose a suitable sentence!

I suppose there's fifty shades of committing murder. One of them is - I killed them and I did it and here's the evidence. So a lighter sentence? Wtf. Murder is murder. Its like doing every wrong thing and repenting. U stull bloody did it

@ siyanda - you are an idiot. Sentencing doesn't focus on the circumstances of the perp, it is about the victims. this murdering piece of SH*T killed three people. It left kids without fathers, and wife's without husbands. He killed. He should be killed. Should someone kill one of your family, and they confess, would you be happy with a lighter sentence for them because they saved court time? If you want to show your pathetic reasoning when opening your mouth, stand next to Malema. Like you, when he opens his mouth he reiterates the lack of intelligence effectively.

Why a organisation that produces such monsters is allowed to continue is beyond me. They denounce the ANC as being evil. Best examine your own ranks and be free of those that bring you down, and become a real champion for the people. If you became an organisation that fronted the greater good for all, you would have more support from all South Africans, not matter of what colour, rather than always resorting to extreme measures, in which your point has lost its meaning.

This should have made the news big time so that the politicians can finally realise that they are not untouchable.
