ANCYL to march in Tshwane

2012-10-11 19:08

Pretoria -The Tshwane ANC Youth League will march to the deputy city manager's office to call for his removal, the party's regional secretary said on Thursday.

"We will march no later than next week Friday," Malome Makou said.

He said the league had more than 7 000 members. Therefore they expected at least 3 000 people to march to Frans Boshielo's office.

"We will equally send correspondence to the office of the [ANC] provincial secretary to have Kgosi Maepa immediately suspended from his responsibilities within the secretariat office."

Makou was speaking in Pretoria on defamation charges against regional chairperson Sbusiso Ngobeni.

Ngobeni was charged with defamation by Maepa and Boshielo after a statement released by the league in July following service delivery protests in the Metsweding informal settlement.

"We know [they] have been organising those protests to create chaos and sabotage the office of the executive mayor," the statement read.

The statement also said the two men were part of a plot to unseat the ANC leadership and council to advance their business interests.

Makou said the statement was not from Ngobeni alone but from the Tshwane ANCYL.

"So we believe that if anyone should be served with summons based on the above sentiments it should be no one but the entire youth league."

He said the league also submitted a letter to the regional secretary of the ANC to charge Maepa and Boshielo for bringing the party into disrepute.

"This is an attempt to scare and silence the youth league in Tshwane. If it is an invitation of war to the youth league then we accept the invitation," Makou said.

"We can never be scared to speak out against corrupt officials in the city. We call upon both of them to do the honourable thing and resign by the time they read this statement."

    Internal Combustion..

      max.reynecke - 2012-10-12 07:23

Theses youths are really a bunch of gullible clowns...this mob mentality of running around in the streets in hordes singing and dancing really doesn't do Africans any favors in terms of their level of civilization in the eyes of the rest of the world. In fact it really makes them look utterly stupid.

      james.hurley.1401 - 2012-10-12 11:43

How about the ANCYL puts all that energy into actually doing something positive instead of always pointing to chains of command higher up

  • 0001000ghost - 2012-10-11 19:27

Is it really needed to "march" everywhere? why don't you guys make the right choice from the beginning instead of all these mistakes. You appoint someone, you know he's going to not do his/her job properly, steel everything in plain sight, and then be fired from the job. I mean, can you not think straight?

      John - 2012-10-11 19:37

Because they don't look past the name "ANC". As long as it has that brand they keep voting for it. Biggest difference between and ANC supporter and the rest of South Africa is that they bend over willingly and ask for more while the rest of us complain and remain unheard

      desertratbkf - 2012-10-11 19:50

Well its another day of work you see. Much nicer walking the streets for the day chanting and misbehaving. Hell, a lot better than sitting in the office doing stuff all, all day and getting paid for it!

      andre.vandeventer.16 - 2012-10-12 06:52

I always thought that in a democracy you vote the person in or out. But then a democracy is meaningless to them!

      dewaldmontgomery - 2012-10-12 07:11

Good question. Walk there, go throw your tantrum, feel better, and go home. What is it with the marching? Besides, it's not like they go "eLeft ... eLeft ... eLeft, eRight, eLeft"

  • Chikane - 2012-10-11 19:39

Damn! Y am I alwys commentin bout politics, wat hav I become? Am I a politician? Racist? Anti Zuma? Pro Malema? No, I wanted 2 b a teacher, nt a politician! Let them march, I dnt care! No comment!

      John - 2012-10-12 08:07

Spelling used to be important for teachers.

  • smalefane - 2012-10-11 19:48

And please march also to the office of Cassel Mathale (Premier of Limpopo)and of the MEC for Roads and Public Works.

  • ian.d.samson - 2012-10-11 19:48

Just HOW can they march "in Tshwane" when Tshwane is the name of the Metro Council, not the physical place of PRETORIA? FFS, PRETORIA IS PRETORIA IS PRETORIA and will always be PRETORIA. F*CK Tshwane.

      smalefane - 2012-10-11 20:16

"PRETORIA IS PRETORIA IS PRETORIA...". We heard you oubaas. But don't bet your horses on it.

      desertratbkf - 2012-10-11 21:07

ANOTHER Troll alert! You came from beyond the Limpopo AFTER the "Boere" got here! Khoisan were the indigenous people of the country! You are a very sad case of individuals. Nothing is yours individually! Its ALL of ours! Build a bridge and get over it! Sad man!

      smalefane - 2012-10-11 22:09

desertratbkf - you really have some serious issues. Take a pill or something. Mbeki was correct when he called your kind "settlers of a special kind". And no, I'm not racist, just opinionated.

      dewaldmontgomery - 2012-10-12 07:14

If you call someone settlers of a special kind, you are BY DEFINITION racist. Plus, yourself are settlers of some special kind, as I recall the Khoi being killed and driven off by your ancestors.

      smalefane - 2012-10-12 09:02

@dewaldmontgomery - how come I have entertained whites in my home if I'm racist? And the Khoi reference is getting a bit lame now.

      dewaldmontgomery - 2012-10-12 10:48

So is the 'settlers' and the land issue when you refer to whites.

      warren.rodel - 2012-10-12 11:30

      Yar its all cANCer issues.

      smalefane - 2012-10-12 13:02

@dewaldmontgomery- my grandparents were removed from their land by the apartheid government. They are one of many black South African to have suffered such injustice. We cannot build a Rainbow Nation if we do not address these issues. We cannot move forward if we do not acknowledge that apartheid laws benefited whites than blacks. "Settlers" is a common name that was used during the struggle. And you can't deny the fact that most whites would jump at the opportunity to leave this country. The same cannot be said about blacks. Who are the settlers then?

      dewaldmontgomery - 2012-10-13 13:37

You FAIL TO SEE THE FACT that MOST BLACK PEOPLE ** DO NOT WANT TO FARM **. They realise the efforts that go into farming; They realise the market conditions at play; They realise the labour issues at hand; etc. etc. etc. Go grab an education and GET OVER THE LAND ISSUE. Your ancestors forcefully removed (errr... KILLED) the Khoi and the San TOO. In fact, your ancestors killed of OTHER BLACK TRIBES too. OUR history, which ought to be YOUR history, is FULL OF EXAMPLES. I don't see YOU apologising for that fact or addressing YOUR past. We live in the 21st century now. Time to move on. As I said, grab an education, become an entrepreneur, or go work corporate, or whatever, and move forward. PS: And you're wrong about blacks leaving. Thousands of educated black people full well recognise the mess the ANC is making of this country. Go check out STATS SA and Dept Home Affairs records. THOUSANDS of blacks have ALREADY LEFT. Stop BLAMING "apartheid" for its evils, and start DOING something. As RAFIKI says in LION KING. You can either RUN from your past, or LEARN from it.

  • Michael Kleber - 2012-10-11 19:50

    Use the ballot box idiots

      dewaldmontgomery - 2012-10-12 07:18

I agree, but have you EVER heard of ideology driven ANC-thugs really accepting and embracing Eastern or Western principles? I mean, they want cars and wealth, but not the economic principles that provide that. They want houses with five bedrooms and land, but not the loans that must be taken out to pay for them. They want "free press" and "independent judiciary", as long as there's a secrecy bill, and as long as the judges make rulings in favour of the ruling party. They want democracy, as long as it's "majority rule". I felt so good the other day when Zuma said "Minorities have less rights". Because his exact words were quoted back to him in the UN when he demanded Africa have more say in the UN Security Council. They only abuse democracy to protect 40 million against 3 million.

      dewaldmontgomery - 2012-10-12 07:22

REAL democracy would occur when there's a Council of Culturual/Language Representatives BETWEEN parliament and the cabinet, with EQUAL number of representatives for each culture/group, regardless of actual NUMBERS. REAL democracy would occur when people vote for the BEST, not for or against colour. REAL democracy would occur when those who UNDERSTAND it only, can vote, and those who don't understand it, CAN'T VOTE, until they QUALIFY (e.g. MUST PASS MATRIC, MUST PAY TAX, and MUST BE PERMANENTLY EMPLOYED). Because as it stands, those who LEAST understand it, determine the future of those who DO. [Objection: It would be unfair to those. Answer: Perhaps, but only in the short term. Because those who DO qualify, will implement policies and use state resources PROPERLY do improve the lives of those who don't, so that they eventually do qualify. As it stands, those who DON'T qualify try all kinds of failed tricks to make it work, resulting in MORE poverty and MORE problems, as is evident by the increasing number of Service Delivery Protests. Statistics: Protests between 1960 and 1994 : 238 in total. Protests between 1994 and 2012: 319 in total.]

      dewaldmontgomery - 2012-10-12 07:27

Leagues are for sports people (the professionals), and children, any way. And "movements" are for people stuck in the 19th and 20th century.

  • Pete7930 - 2012-10-11 20:42

Here in the western world we use vehicles such as cars, busses, trains, motorbikes, trucks, aeroplanes. But hey, march all you want. Dont forget ur tribal weapons: bricks, toilet seats, wheel spanners and screwdrivers. Its gonna be a blast. SAP will be waiting for you !

  • tim.ngy.1 - 2012-10-11 21:10

Just because there was a historical revolt of the youth which is not only remembered and commemorated, but also appreciated, it should not be abused, the youth should get too much ahead of themselves. Turn your tongues more than 3 times before saying anything, as most of the time all youth statements are nonsense.

  • glen.e.huysamer - 2012-10-11 21:11

  • nettie.potgieter.5 - 2012-10-12 07:14

If they are truly interested in uplifting the poor they will march in the informal setelments. The people can then sell them food and drinks.
