Abducted Free State man found dead

2013-03-20 18:39
Johannesburg - A man who was robbed and abducted from his Welkom home last week was found dead in Virginia on Wednesday, Free State police said.

"The body of Mr Tony Texeira was found by a security guard while walking in Saaiplaas Road today [Wednesday]," said police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng.

"He had a gunshot wound in his head, and both legs and hands were tied up."

His family identified his body earlier on Wednesday.

Police launched a manhunt last week after four armed men broke into Texeira's house and robbed him and his wife of electrical appliances, jewellery, three cellphones and cash.

The men took Texeira in their car and stole his Soyat bakkie.

His wife was left unharmed.

"An extensive manhunt is still continuing to trace the four suspects. Mr Texeira's white Soyat bakkie is still missing," said Thakeng.
