Cape Town – Ajax Cape Town defender Cecil Lolo has been killed in a car crash.

The 28-year-old was one of two men killed in a head-on collision just before midnight on Saturday.

Western Cape emergency services spokesperson Robert Daniels said a VW Golf GTI collided with a bakkie on Spine Road, just off the N2 highway near Khayelitsha.

“It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of our brave warrior Cecil Lolo this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Lolo,” the club said on its Facebook page.

The club said it would release an official statement later. Lolo had been with the club since 2010.
