Alberton house robber caught

Johannesburg - Three men were arrested in Alberton on Wednesday after a botched house robbery, Ekurhuleni metro police said.

Metro spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago said they held up an elderly couple at knife-point and ransacked the house.

The couple managed to alert the police. "[Police] responded swiftly to a distress call that came through to the Brackendowns police station, and they arrived at the scene of the crime in approximately ten minutes," said Kgasago.

"They surrounded the house and apprehended [the robbers]".

Three men aged between 25 and 29 were arrested at the scene while a fourth managed to escape.

Police retrieved jewellery, R1 000 and three knives from the suspected robbers.

"The victims received medical treatment on the scene for the slight injuries they sustained during the robbery," said Kgasago.

The three men will appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court on 10 August, facing charges of armed robbery, resisting arrest, and assault.

    chop their hands off teach them a lesson.. that's the only way these guys will stop.. they need to "loose" something before they realise that it's not worth it.. mak the criminal think twice to commit a crime..make the punishment so hectic to drop the crime level down..
