Johannesburg - Two men accused of stealing copper cable were beaten to death in Tweefontein, near KwaMhlanga, on Tuesday, Mpumalanga police said.

Police spokesperson Selvy Mohlala said a mob kidnapped them early in the morning and assaulted them.

"After their assailants realised that they were lying motionless, they then transported them to Kwaggafontein Clinic, where they dumped them," he said.

The men were certified dead at the hospital.

Nurses alerted the police.

Mohlala said two people were arrested and were expected to appear soon in the KwaMhlanga Magistrate's Court.
