Alleged rapist beaten by community

Johannesburg -  A 32-year-old man was beaten badly by residents in Soweto on Sunday after he allegedly entered a house and raped a woman, Johannesburg police said.

The man suffered extensive injuries and had to be rescued by police, who placed him under arrest.

He was taken to hospital where he remains under police guard.

Warrant Office Kay Makhubela said the man entered the Jabulani house at 07:30 on Sunday "and forced himself onto the woman", also aged 32. Her friend who was outside the house at the time heard her screams, went inside and found the man raping her.

She ran into the street for help.

The suspect would appear in court as soon as he recovered, said Makubela.

Leonard - The township comminities are fed up with the judiciary system. From the police who don't respond to the courts who release these criminals on a techicality. One of my staff had his home cleaned out by burglars 2 weeks ago. He is still waiting for the police to come to his house. I can guarantee you that it is going to get much worse before it gets better. I certainly don't agree with taking the law into your own hands but if one of my family were raped then no law is going to stop me from getting hold of the bastards.

      Emily-Jane Elson - 2012-03-04 21:18

They won't be able to do it again if you castrate them.. Cut of their weapons!

      TaniaSandraSteyn - 2012-03-04 23:09

Motherwell has an excellent Police Station, last time I heard. Hand them over.

  • Nigel - 2012-03-04 19:04

GOOD, Now take this community punishment to Limpopo, where criminals like Malema should be dealt with by the poor he stole from, he doesn't deserve a fair trial.

  • Sharon - 2012-03-04 19:12

There we go, mr rapist - take your medicine!! So the police are concerned enough to guard this punk, but not the community?

  • crismoyo - 2012-03-04 19:18

    Rapists shud be castrated.

  • Mindy Katz - 2012-03-04 20:08

Give them to the community and they will pay!!! Then we don't have to worry about our tax money being wasted on useless criminals!!! That money could go towards schooling!!!

  • Natasha Beukes Babycakes - 2012-03-04 20:17

leave the rapists and the molesters and pediphiles to the communities! death sentance will b surved and they deserve it!! amen to the community

      Rodney - 2012-03-04 21:34

only once they have been found guilty should they be handed over. What if it was someone with a grudge who made the claim? surely you remember how many innocent people were necklaced by the community because of false claims? Mob justice is all well and good, but only if the alleged perpetrator is actually guilty.

      PhilipV - 2012-03-05 08:51

He was caught in the act .. what's to prove guilty????

  • lynette.hugo - 2012-03-04 21:52

    Slaan hom mors dood

  • Bluemast - 2012-03-05 00:09

Why allow him to recover - he had no remorse intended when he premeditated his criminal behaviour - unplug the BA star... from his oxygen and let nature do its thing......... - he asked for it - otherwise castration and using it as evidence in court would also seem like a brilliant idea!

  • Gary - 2012-03-05 09:13

yes, yes, yes....if the cops can't do it, the community can.....

  • Snoopy.zn - 2012-03-05 09:43

Awesome! Pitty you couldn't kill him before the SAPS arrived.
