Cape Town - Police have nabbed a man they believe is responsible for luring at least 12 women into the bush near the Bellville railway line before raping them.

He was tracked through a stolen cellphone, followed for a week, and arrested on Thursday, said Constable Noloyiso Rwexana.

The 31-year-old Gugulethu resident is alleged to have offered undertaking jobs to women looking for employment on Voortrekker Road.

The women alleged that they were asked to accompany him to a nearby building.

On the way, they were dragged to the bush and raped at knifepoint.

“In most cases victims were robbed of their cellphones and cash.”

He was expected to appear in Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
