Cape Town - A man shot and wounded in Makhaza, Cape Town,
was Ses'khona People's Rights Movement leader Andile Lili, Western Cape police
confirmed on Thursday.
He was shot while sitting in his car outside his home in
Themba Mazibuko Road at 22:10 on Wednesday, Captain Frederick van Wyk said.
"This office can confirm that the circumstances
surrounding an attempted murder of a 39-year-old male are being
investigated."
Van Wyk said the motive was unknown, and no one had yet been
arrested.
No further details were provided.
Lili was taken to hospital but police could not provide an
update on his condition on Thursday.
According to the SABC, Lili was in a critical but stable
condition. It reported he was shot several times.
Lili is also a former ANC councillor in the Western Cape.
