Another truck torched in Cape Town

2012-10-05 18:16

Cape Town - A truck was set alight next to the N2 highway in Cape Town on Friday afternoon.

The cabin and a side panel of the freight truck were destroyed in the blaze.

The Airport Approach road onramp, where the truck had come to a stop, was closed to traffic and at least four police vans were on the scene. More police vehicles lined the highway towards the airport.

At the Borcherds Quarry offramp, police monitored a small group of men.

The provincial police spokesperson was not immediately available to comment.

Three trucks were stoned in Cape Town earlier in the week. Another truck was hijacked and set alight near George on Wednesday evening.

It was not clear whether the violence was linked to an ongoing strike by truck drivers.

Where is the logic in all of this? These actions are inexcusable, there is not one reason these people can give that could even come close to justifying what they are doing!!! And the government watches as the country burns....

      julio.sanfona - 2012-10-05 19:56

Their reasoning doesn't follow any civilized norm. They are sub-human and don't understand the consequences of their actions. Unfortunately, in most cases where marches turn violent noboby faces the law and they feel as if what they are doing is ok.

Aaah our democracy in action. Freedumb - free to do as you please ... Aah, how we miss the voice of Zipper Zoomer at times like these, as his flock "flock" things up... Yes, South Africa is now free = a free for all. You just have to love this crazy mixed up nation of violent thugs.... Like hell !!!

I trust that the owners of these damaged vehicles throughout SA are going to sue the trade unions responsible and/or the government for allowing this to happen and not protecting their citizens and their property. The claims must be for replacement value of course. The claims are going to be humongous!

Ever wondered how they could build a very successful international campaign, spanning decades; the anti-apartheid movement, but somehow cannot manage a municipality's finances, let alone the country's economy? It is because the ANC was just the AA, or BEE front for the real powers behind the overthrow of the previous government. Here's an article, written today, that gives some perspective to what is happening around us at. http://praag.org/?p=2575 Everything is playing out as planned. Was very predictable of course.

      tw2066 - 2012-10-05 20:45

Revolution for the ANC ... no problem. Evolution ... to coin a phrase ... Hau whaaats thettt??

Truck owners should have guards ride shotgun on their trucks and shoot whoever tries to damage their property...then it will stop!

  • stanton.clarke - 2012-10-05 18:51

The perpatrators are not Capetonians, we dont burn things in Cape Town when we dont get our way. Go back from where you came from now!

      julio.sanfona - 2012-10-05 19:58

I agree with your statement "go back from where you came from", but please don't come to Gauteng!

Burn it all, soon there will be nothing left. The ANC want the western cape ungovenable. get it in your heads. projected tourism figures ( fedhasa) are dropping by 18% this year due to direct flights being lost. the running riot in the streets , murdering people at will , and all everyone does is go about day to day. madam Zille a referendum please . republic of western cape can be very successful maybe before the 55 deaths a day become 155 a day.

  • yolandi.reichert - 2012-10-05 20:08

The government should rename something! That's the only thing they do well! Leave the country to burn! Rather rename Pretoria or something.....

  • mart.botha - 2012-10-06 12:05

This is terrorism and must be treated with the same force and finality. If it is not terrorism as defined in the dictionary, then amend the dictionary to include this form of anti-social and quite unacceptable action.
