Another woman raped, killed in W Cape

2013-02-12 14:23

Johannesburg - The body of a young woman was found in Beacon Hill, Atlantis, on Tuesday morning, Cape Town police said.

"A resident in Atlantis was on his way to work when he saw the body of a young lady in the bushes," Colonel Tembinkosi Kinana said.

The 19-year-old was found at 07:00. No arrests had been made.

Another 19-year-old woman was raped and murdered in Kraaifontein, near Cape Town over the weekend.

Her body was found in the drawer of a bed in a flat on Saturday. Police suspect she had been strangled.

The murders come in the wake of a public outcry following the rape and murder of Bredasdorp teenager Anene Booysen.

Booysen, 17, was gang-raped and disembowelled after visiting a club on Friday, 1 February.

She was found at the Asla construction site where she worked, not far from her RDP home, the next morning. She died later that day.

We need to stand as a people and destroy this evil once and for all. We do not need the government. They are useless anyway. We need to take justice into our own hands people, or we will continue to see this evil spike!

Can the Government give Helen Zille that Army she requested for? it is really needed now.

      Sasha D - 2013-02-12 17:06

One thing is crystal clear and that is that we have many mentally deranged people in our society. It could be the remnant effects of apartheid, I don't really know. But what I do believe is that they need professional medical help before they commit these crimes. No sane or compos mentis individual commits crimes like this. These people are currently ignored by the state so it should come as little surprise when this kind of thing happens.

      Killbot79 - 2013-02-12 18:19

Ntobeko, its crime same as in the ANC run areas moron

      jannie.beirowski - 2013-02-12 19:43

The big crimes happen because small crimes are tollerated, accepted and ANC (absolutely no consequence). The government and police should apply the broken-window belief - repair the small broken windows, or small crimes and the breaking down of the building, or big crimes, will stop.

Bring back the death penalty A.S.A.P. There is no other deterrent. This will continue happening as long as we have a weak judicial system in this country. Let the people vote for/against this request. Government cannot decide for the people.

      ianmichaelcalder - 2013-02-12 15:07

He's not the president of a country with rape levels soaring. Your comment suggests that you think Jayz has bigger priorities?

      AceOfSpades - 2013-02-12 15:38

I think we all have roles to play than pointing fingers. If we literally await the president to solve it, doubt he will reach all of us. But if one of us finds a solution in their own community it can then be emulated by other able communities. The most effective solution I can think of.

      Eric Martinsich - 2013-02-12 15:38

What the hell has the President got to do with Sadistic rapists/killers. Stick to the issue at hand

      ianmichaelcalder - 2013-02-12 15:48

Not sure what you want the communities to do - they can't dispense mob justice, as that would amount to a crime. I think the general feeling is that there needs to be stricter punishments, and the easiest person to push for legal reform around that would be Zuma? While he can't resolve every case of rape, he can affect changes that give the country a better framework to operate with.

      AceOfSpades - 2013-02-13 09:20

That is another way, two organisations have proven it viability with the ammendment of the sexual offences act. I still maintain that in a community that nevers sleeps, such would not be feasible.

With the law which is in place by the ruling party, government is enjoying what is happening to our nation. They have a don't care attitude about normal citizens of this country, we the tax payers are being robbed from caring about our own families and caring for barbarians when appering in court, free legal aid (actually it is not free,we the tax payers foot the bill) and off course and we are paying for their five star treatment in prison, excellent good healthy food and private hospitals when needed. Our families whom we work so hard for has to suffer at the expense of criminals, cos they have more rights than a innocent citizen. ZUMA PLEASE HAVE AN EMERGENCY HEART OPERATION, AND HAVE A HEART.

Attention: Micheal Jackwood or is it M - Jackass? Please read; Hunt on for rapist of girl, 7 Johannesburg - Police were continuing the search for a man who raped a 7-year-old girl in Phunong section in Ganyesa Village, North West police said on Tuesday. The child was raped by an unknown man while playing alone at a nearby park on Saturday, Captain Amanda Funani said. The girl's grandmother noticed that she was struggling to walk. When the child was questioned she told her grandmother about the rape. The child was taken to a local hospital, where a doctor confirmed that she had been raped. A case was opened on Sunday afternoon, but no one had been arrested by Tuesday morning Probably the WC's and the DA's fault... Rape is a terrible thing, rape is rape. You can’t blame a political party for the wrong doing of man... Blame his d..k! Chop off his d..k, maybe then he will learn...

  • PointBlank - 2013-02-12 14:51

I can tell you this, the death penalty will not be reintroduced in this country. This will anger many people to the point where communities will institute their own form of the death penalty. We are going to see revenge vigilante attacks on suspects that will not only match the crime but go beyond that. This cannot be allowed to happen, the cops need to notch up a gear and start arresting suspects for their own sake and that of the moral fibre of this country. There is nothing more sick then rape, but I fear that the repercussions may be even more disturbing.

Look up North, fool, and see what the so-called war veterans do to their prey. Breaking their legs to facilitate entry. Read UHURU! please. You will recognise the savagery of Africa - and why our politicians consider it OK to treat women like commodities. Slavery in Africa was a result of tribes selling off their enemies instead of killing them - once the Arabs grasped the market. Nothing has changed. Woman are still commodities, goods, their wombs and vaginas being sold on an open market. Slavery is alive and well.

  • Perfume - 2013-02-12 15:33

The cANCer must be careful that the people of South Africa don't start taking the law into their own hands. Quick death sentences will be served to rapists they won't even have time to appear in court. Read earlier that there is a hunt on for a 7 year old little girl's rapist. Government might wake up from their slumber once the people start taking the law into their own hands, or unless they depend fully on the votes of rapists and murderers that help them stay in power.

People often confuse retribution with revenge... Vengeance signifies inflicting harm on the offender out of anger because of what he has done. Retribution is the rationally supported theory that the criminal deserves a punishment fitting the gravity of his crime...Retributivism is not based on hatred for the criminal (though a feeling of vengeance may accompany the punishment). Retributivism is the theory that the criminal deserves to be punished and deserves to be punished in proportion to the gravity of his or her crime, whether or not the victim or anyone else desires it. We may all deeply regret having to carry out the punishment, but consider it warranted. When a society fails to punish criminals in a way thought to be proportionate to the gravity of the crime, the danger arises that the public would take the law into its own hands, resulting in vigilante justice. We have to advocate the death penalty, if not for revenge, as pro-rights groups would advocate but as just dessert for the gravity of the crime.

Amen. The punishment should fit the crime.
