KWAZULU-NATAL software developers have created an app to help with the aim of alleviateing South Africa’s unemployment woes.

The Muva student app was developed to helpwith the goal of connecting unemployed people with potential employers and, but also streamlineing the job-seeking process.

Durban software developer Taylor Gibb, who was part of the team responsible for developing the app, said that with the country facing huge unemploymentrates, the app could be used as an indispensible tool for job seekers and wasoffered more than just adverts for jobs.

“Muva aims to bridge the employment gapin South Africa by providing the South African youth with an easy way to search and apply for part-time work,” he said.

The app is also able to generate a CV for its user, eliminating the need for them to create their own and upload a CV to the platform.

The app allowsfor job seekers to create their own profiles and employers to do the same to advertise jobs.

Job seekers then use the app to apply for jobs and once their application has been accepted, the employers can view the applicant’s contact information and even send an interview request, which the applicant can accept or deny.

“After a person using the app works for a company or does a project with them, future employers can get verification from the previous companies a person has worked at, like a recommendation. That experience is also added to the CV within the app,” Gibbs said.

“The user fills in all their information and they are able to request for the CV to be sent to them to be printed as a hardcopy. So if they did not want to use the app to apply for jobs they could use it to create their own CV. We also have graphic designers on board who have designed the CV, which could easily be used to apply for jobs,” Gibb said.

The app is available for download for free at the Google Play store
