Apparent murder pics posted on Facebook

2012-12-03 09:35

Bloemfontein - Friends of missing student Thabiso Moholoholo, 21, were left shocked after pictures of his “body” and an apparent murder weapon were uploaded onto the Facebook social network.

The photographs were accompanied by strange comments like: “We did him a favour, look at his last status. He knew he was going to die,” reported Volksblad.

The photographs showed a Moholoholo lying face-down, covered in blood, and a blood-smeared panga with a gold-filled tooth that apparently belonged to the student.

The student disappeared on 9 October after going to the library.

Shortly after his disappearance, a friend received an SMS saying he was dead.

Private investigator Leon Rossouw said the photographs and posts should be viewed in a serious light.

He was trying to establish who was behind the uploads as he didn’t think it was Moholoholo.

“His phone is also no longer active. Everything points to something having happened to him,” said Rossouw.

Friend posted messages on Facebook begging for the safe return of Mohloholo.

But a police source said the photographs were false and possibly uploaded by Moholoholo himself.

“He is a rapper and what he writes on his laptop, is happening now. Only he can do it (upload the pics),” said the police source.

Sick sick sick people in this country!!! I hope they get caught and that they are on the receiving end of some mob justice!! Basterds!

      johan.fou - 2012-12-03 11:57

If it was true, then yes they should have been severely punished...but...think about it. A below average student who really just wants to be a rapper. (It's all a hoax btw.) When he gets caught, he will face time in prison. This boy us really stupid. Throwing away his whole future just for that 15 seconds of fame. Ai tog.

      johan.fou - 2012-12-03 12:06

O yeah, forgot to mention. Look at the "apparent murder photo" again. Any person who has ever seen a murder scene or even just someone dying/having died from related injuries will immediately tell you they are fake. First of all the "blood" is as fake as a Malema note. If it is blood (which I strongly doubt), it definitely is not human blood. Secondly. The "scene" supposes some blunt force trauma...why is there no swelling. BTW: with those supposed head injuries...why no bleeding from the ears. Thirdly: All that blood in the upper body regions...yet no wounds? I can go on and on like this, but you should start getting the picture by now...he's just seeking some attention. (And we're all giving it to him.)

      tebo.go.5 - 2012-12-03 11:05

      cant find him

      msika.gama.5 - 2012-12-03 11:20

Scary indeed. I even browsed some of his pics, the guy seems to be a troubled fellow.

      klippies.coke.7 - 2012-12-03 11:28

      Very disturbing

  • cecile.kiley1 - 2012-12-03 10:00

Have the police not heard about laptops being stolen, and a facebook account password being saved on the laptop, and therefore that OTHER people can actually access the guy's facebook page, having stolen the laptop? How dof can they get?! (Joh. Training clearly doesn't enhance intelligence and logic in any way)

      piet.motsoeneng - 2012-12-03 10:31

I agree with you Cecile, I just dont understand why the police had to make such claims even if they turn out to be true. I find it very insensetive of them towards what the family is feeling at the moment. I think it would have been better for them to complete the investigations and when they are sure of this then they can tell the public what their findings were. Besides there is a possibility that his account was hacked. I recently had that problem and I am not even sure f they know his laptop is in whose posession. So, what thy said is really not wise.

      msika.gama.5 - 2012-12-03 11:24

This was not an official report from the police, as stated on the article "But a police source said".

      johan.fou - 2012-12-03 15:45

I would not recommend calling them "dof" just yet. Yes, the reason they gave is completely invalid, but any person who have ever attended a murder scene (and a lot of police officers tend to do that), will tell you immediately that this is fake. The fact is: This is a hoax by an attention seeking student...and nothing more. Remember: To the trained and experienced eye, this is as clear as daylight. I'd recommend you read my top comment.

If you have facebook on your smart phone, when you go into facebook it will open to your profile without a password.

"The government hates rap. Do you know how you can get away with murdering a black brother in America? Pop a cap in their head and hide a demo tape in their pocket. The cops'll be, like, 'Aw man, this is a rap killing, lets bag this body and do the paperwork, ain't nobody going to find out who shot this fool." - Chris Rock Note to the police: what if the killers got their hands on his Blackberry and used it to change his Facebook password, huh?

      natasha.vermaak - 2012-12-03 11:07

My blackberry doesnt even ask for a password?

      pbredell - 2012-12-03 12:06

They are even filed under "mobile uploads", which means they were uploaded from a phone. Anyone with his phone can do it.

  • msika.gama.5 - 2012-12-03 10:18

Hopefully he's not pulling a Leon van Rensburg on us.

If someone has your belongings illegally they can access whatever you have asked your computer save so they could have used his passwords to access his Facebook and so on... you dont have to do it yourself. Sick world we live in.

  • theMichaelHawthorne - 2012-12-03 10:59

Moholololol is sick in the for staging his own death...

      tshenolo.letsoara - 2012-12-05 10:14

Iyoo that guy will never do thst to his patents, police don't do their job

  • Gcina.PSJ.Sotiya - 2012-12-03 11:15

Jst saw his profile on facebook, it looks like real murder...if he faked it, how do u explain the gold tooth removed from his mouth?

      seep.mctavish - 2012-12-03 11:34

the photo is so blurry, how do you know its his? And im sorry, ive seen more than my fair share of bodies, and he does NOT look dead. Publicity stunt .

  • mikaelapace - 2012-12-03 12:20

Oh come on, how stupid can you be? Sorry no patience for this anymore! I urge everyone to have a look at the Victim Support Network at - its a fantastic resource for ALL south africans (victims of crime or not) to benefit from and also posts current events strictly crime related.

  • thando.nzimande.50 - 2012-12-03 14:10

The reason why the SAPS would say its fake and that he's staging the whole thing is so that whoever did it relaxes and keeps posting while they track him, they are tracing the account !

      msika.gama.5 - 2012-12-03 14:26

But this is not an official report from the police as stated in the article???

      lskosana3 - 2012-12-03 19:13

So if that was indeed the case you thought it was a brilliant idea to tip off the criminal?

  • irma.white.9 - 2012-12-03 14:15

Yeah I've also seen my fair share of injuries and honestly, this doesn't look real. I am very sorry if it turns out to be true, but from what I have personally seen, this is a hoax.

  • BillzMasterP - 2012-12-03 15:27

I did see this round about 08:45 today from a friend this is sad it should be an eye opener for those who use facebook for contacts. I mean this is just Ideas and motivation site you only meet people you know not because he is a friend of a friend.

  • jacyjays.letsoalo - 2012-12-03 17:33

I just checked his profile and can't really figure if they are real or not! However, it it is real then we are in for a sick joke! I wonder what his parents are saying cos it may be a joke to him or the perpetrators but death is something serious! Amongst his pictures I see the Izikhothane styled pics which may motivate his death or life. He, if still alive must refrain from this sick joke. The police must try to build a profile abt his history and attitude and they will definately catch whoever is behind this joke. He will definately be damned to play such a joke if it isn't true that he staged his death, but like in the Rasuge case, time will catch up with whoever is committing such acts

  • lskosana3 - 2012-12-03 20:01

Clearly someone's posting from his fb acc, what a sick sick individual!

  • lebogang.r.mashego - 2012-12-03 20:58

i checked the profile,i think its a hoax,it doesnt add up to me

  • ophelia.louw - 2012-12-04 12:56

These policemen are just lazy! Its almost 2 months since he went missing! Why would he stage his own dead?
