Johannesburg - A man arrested in connection with the burning of a house in Coffee Bay is expected to appear in court later this week, Eastern Cape police said on Monday.

The 30-year-old would appear in the Kwaaiman Periodical Court on an arson charge on Tuesday, police spokesperson Zamukulungisa Jozana said.

The house, in Ezidindi A/A, was set alight on Friday, and the man was arrested on Saturday. The motive was still unknown.

In a separate case, another man appeared in court on Monday for possession of drugs.

The 31-year-old was found with drugs with a street value of about R8 000, at the Mqanduli taxi rank on Sunday, Jozana said.

The matter was postponed to 18 February.
