Australian stalker back in court

Cape Town - Australian Shumsheer Singh Ghumman appeared in the Cape Town regional court on Monday for allegedly petrol bombing a woman's home in Cape Town.

He faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, arson and malicious damage. The charge sheet gives no details of the charges.

The case was postponed until July 29. Ghumman remains in custody.

All the charges are related to time Ghumman spent with Hannah Rhind, who he met in the United Kingdom.

He started stalking her and this led to his conviction in a London criminal court on a charge of harassment.

At the time, Ghumman held a management post with an investment bank in the UK.

He followed her when she returned to South Africa, and is alleged to have petrol bombed her family home in Clifton.

Ghumman's trial has been set down for August 2 until August 4 and again from August 16 to August 19.

Reminds me of the Aussie who was stopped in the street and asked by the cop - "Excuse me sir did you just make a U-Turn" and he replied "No mate - but I sure made her eyes water".

The comments on this post just brightened up my Monday, thanks guys...

these trite comments miss the point to put it mildly. we have seen a recent spell of sick guys who stalk and ultimately kill the women they claim to 'love', like the one last week who murdered his ex girlfriend on the steps of a 'security complex'. and those are only the ones that made the news. a woman is statistically more likely to be killed by her intimate partner (or ex) than anyone else. these guys are dangerous, and this one, like the rest, needs to be locked away for the rest of his life in order that she can lead a normal life.
