Cape Town – The bodies of two babies were discovered dumped in medical waste by a waste removal company in Airport Industria on Wednesday, said Cape Town paramedics.

"We were called at about 13:15 today (Wednesday) after they (babies) were discovered by one of the employees of a waste removal company," ER24 spokesperson Tristan Wadeley told News24, adding that they appeared to have been newborns and could have been already dead when they were disposed of.

"When the paramedics arrived on the scene, they were shown to the medical waste section of the company where the bodies were found wrapped in a medical waste packet and placed in a medical waste box."

Wadeley said he could not name the company, but did say that it was a "private waste removal" company.

An employee of the company said that it was the first time he could recall finding babies in medical waste.
