Johannesburg - A 2-month-old baby girl has been abducted in Wellington, allegedly by a teenager known to the child's mother, Western Cape police said on Thursday.

A 17-year-old known as Bronwin offered to take the baby, Jashmea Albertus, to her aunt around 4pm on Wednesday, Lieutenant Colonel Andr Traut said.

The teenager disappeared with the baby. Bronwin is described as having a light complexion and curly hair with blond streaks.

She was wearing black tights, a grey top, and grey boots at the time. The baby was wearing a blue jumpsuit.

Traut urged anyone with information on the teenager or the baby's whereabouts to contact Crime Stop on 08600-10111.
