Johannesburg - One person was killed and another critically injured when their bakkie collided with a Putco bus on Moloto Road, near Jakkalsdans on Monday morning, metro police said.

"The Tshwane Emergency Services had to use hydraulic equipment to free the two as they were trapped inside the bakkie," said spokesperson Console Tleane in a statement.

Although details were still emerging, it was believed that none of the bus passengers were injured.
The cause of the accident was not known.

Traffic delays were expected as the wreckage was cleared, Tleane said.

You say that the cause of the accident is not known ?......I can tell you what the cause was...BEE drivers license !!!

i saw the accident this morning and the cause of the accident is the bus driver was trying to overtake and had a brake failer and he bumped into a bakkie...thats what happened i was there.

Then it shows the level of management at the bus company and (not want to show any racism) was obviously managed by a BEE company !...That is exactly my point ! Does not matter what it is !!..just look at the accident stats all over the country....99% of those are taxi or bus being driven by a BEE appointed driver and cannot be disputed as being the most un-educated drivers on our roads.

In other words you are confessing Francinah that the bus was un-roadworthy! Why am I not surprised. Did you perhaps notice whether the bus-driver was overtaking on a solid white line or not and will you be able to act as witness in court?

I don't think it has anything to do with the license, it is attitude. I stayed in that area in 2005 and travelled the Moloto road everyday, and believe me it was a nightmare. Those guys have no respect for anyone on the road. They torment everybody on that road. It is an ongoing thing with them.

Thanks hennie for confirming my point. I live 700km from there and its not unique only in your area. Its all over SA !!

My family lives on that route when im visiting them. I have seen bus drivers in action on that road. They don't care at all. If they want to overtake a car they do so and in a scary manner. But then again there is so many unroad worthy cars. Driving on that road that even the bus drivers get frustrated driving @ 40kmp behind one of these cars

      Sean - 2012-01-09 11:09

once again, it is not speed that kills, it simply un-roadworthy vehicles on our roads as well as stupid, arrogant impatient drivers! driving too slow - under the speed limit unnecessarily also causes frustration to other road users and road rage.
