Barbie gets 7 years in jail

2010-02-24 11:52

Pretoria - Former advocate Cezanne Visser was sentenced to seven years direct imprisonment on Wednesday for sexually abusing young girls and women.

The sentence was passed down by acting judge Chris Eksteen in the North Gauteng High Court.

He found her guilty on 11 charges, including two of indecently assaulting two girls of 11 and 14 years and soliciting a 13-year-old to commit indecent acts.

She was also sentenced on a charge of defrauding a children's home in order to get them to allow children to spend weekends with her and her former lover, Dirk Prinsloo.

The judge also linked her to the indecent assault of a 20-year-old woman, indecently assaulting two other younger women and the possession and manufacturing of child pornography.

Judge Eksteen said Visser had willingly associated herself with, and actively participated in, depraved sexual activities at Prinsloo's house during which drugs were sometimes also used to overcome victims' resistance.

    justice was served...

  • gloria - 2010-02-24 12:31

Hoped she will get stiffer sentence e.g 12 or 13 years but happy anyway that one child molester will be off our streets.not a deterrent at all.

  • Hello??? - 2010-02-24 12:32

Yet our president gets off scot-free for rape. Oh wait - maybe if she gave them breakfast and cab fare Cessan would also have been let off the hook.

  • Gary - 2010-02-24 12:33

Now she is going to find out what it feels like to be sexually abused. Pucker up those lips Barbie.

  • Ella M - 2010-02-24 12:34

hope the humiliation is not over yet - you deserve more for what you did!

  • JJeftha - 2010-02-24 12:35

Sorry, not be heard sentences but what is good for one is good for the other.Prinsloo could have not be blame for the crime and Adv Barbie go and work at the Zoo. She also need to learn to hard way.Sorry but crime do not pay who will pay the price for it!!!!!!

  • Natasha - 2010-02-24 12:35

she should have been given a life sentence ...

  • Kien - 2010-02-24 12:35

  • Jas - 2010-02-24 12:36

Would you've settled for only 7 years if it was your child...? No, justice was not served.

  • Jaco Greeff - 2010-02-24 12:36

... and now DSTV wants to add porn channels !!!

  • jo - 2010-02-24 12:37

Well done. She got what she deserved. As long as she stays in jail for 7 years and not get out on parole after a year or two. She should be happy. It is a light sentence for such horrific deeds!

  • scottie - 2010-02-24 12:37

Some sympathy for her but in the end she is guilty and must pay for what she done

  • Anonymous - 2010-02-24 12:37

How can she only get 7 years. These are children we are talking about. and then there was the use of drugs as well.

What is happening to the "justice system" of this country.
No wonder people do as they wish.

  • Advena - 2010-02-24 12:37

Soft justice for her!! If it was a man he would have got much much more. This is discrimination!

  • Barry - 2010-02-24 12:38

Why do chld molesters and sex offenders get of with such light sentenses. These young children will be scarred for th rest of their lives where in seven years or less Visser will be a free women to cary on with the rest of her life.

  • Lyn - 2010-02-24 12:39

She deserves to be behind bars. She is just as guilty and as sick as Dirk.

  • Ms R - 2010-02-24 12:39

Great stuff. Sit Barbie Sit. Justic prevailed and that is great for her victims.

  • AJ - 2010-02-24 12:40

She'll be out in 3 or 4 - is that what paedophiles get in South Africa now?

  • maloom - 2010-02-24 12:40

i'm glad that she is not getting away with what she done, hurting young girls that have got the short end of lifes stick.
now she can feel what it's like.

  • jonny - 2010-02-24 12:41

gladly so, justice is served. all criminals need to be treated the same

  • wins - 2010-02-24 12:41

Good. It will give her time to grow up and start to think for herself.

  • Ockert - 2010-02-24 12:42

Should have been much longer - how can predators such as her ever see the light of day again. Should have been sentenced to death if that still existed, what respect much you have for persons serving the law and preforming criminal acts and using nonsense storeies to try and evade prison.

  • Ilze - 2010-02-24 12:42

In belang van kinders is die regte besluit geneem! Dit is hoog tyd dat wreedaards leer dat daar nie met kinders gemors moet word nie.

  • Adele - 2010-02-24 12:43

This girl had it coming. She really enjoyed the lime light and flaunting her body. She relished in the "fame". This type of evil needs to be punished.

  • mwa - 2010-02-24 12:43

hope those big mamas will give her a taste of her own medicine in jail!

  • Corry - 2010-02-24 12:44

thank fk, now this story can disappear. Tired of this being headlines every other day.

  • bloubul77 - 2010-02-24 12:44

7 years is too much... hopefully will get out sooner

  • Ria - 2010-02-24 12:47

May God be with you all the way, Cezanne. It is so easy for people to talk about something they have no idea about.

  • builder - 2010-02-24 12:49

I think she has been hard done by. Corrective sentencing with community service would benefit her and the community far better than a prison sentence

  • Esme Buitendag - 2010-02-24 12:49

Maybe she should get terminally ill - she has done a very wrong thing but has paid the price over a period of months. Being involved with Dirk Prinsloo was a sentence on its own. Sterkte Cizanne - ons bid vir jou!

  • Steve - 2010-02-24 12:49

Do the crime do the time.

  • Margaret - 2010-02-24 12:51

I feel justice has been done. I hope she's learnt her lesson properly. I doubt she will re-offend. I hope she can pick up the pieces of her life afterwards. Everybody deserves a second chance.

  • Barbie2 - 2010-02-24 12:51

Although I would probably want to kill anybody who molested one of my children, I have a lot of sympathy with Cezanne. May years ago I was caught in a very similar situation and was fortunate to escape before the degenerate I was married to, could fulfill his sick and depraved potential. In the 3 years we were married, I became completely estranged from my own family and friends , was physically and mentally abused - he used to get a huge kick out of raping me and telling me what he has done to other women - and a total slave to him. I KNOW WHAT HE DID TO CEZANNE!! It is unfortunately so, that, unless you have first hand experience of a person like Prinsloo , it is impossible to believe! Nobody believed me either. I wish Cezanne strength and peace.

  • christina - 2010-02-24 12:52

GOOD!! She deserve to go to jail.

  • hans - 2010-02-24 12:52

I think she got of lightly and should have been given life. In fact anyone who rapes molestes chldren especially the very young derseves no sympathy and should either be locked away for life or executed.

  • Concern - 2010-02-24 12:52

No offence to everyone commenting. I feel very sory for her and know what she did was wrong, but do we really know what her suffering was, and are we not as guilty if we wih her to be treated the same in jail? Are we still at a stage of an eye for an eye. Sorry but I feel a suspended jail term and community work would have beenjustified in this case>

  • Mark - 2010-02-24 12:52

OOOOO, she is going to have such fun in prison, she is going to be shown 1001 ways in which abuse can take place.
Barbie, no excuses, you action your life in terms of life's rules !!!

  • JanetteN - 2010-02-24 12:55

My oh a country where there is a lack of justice they managed to sentence her for 7years. It's a joke. How many years will she be jailed actively? Rapist and murderers don't sit that long..... Well at least she'll get some of her own medicine while she is in jail. We all heard what they do to child molesters, and rapists in jail. Inmates hate them....So Cezanne or Barbie or whatever you like to be called-here's to the good life behind bars!!!!! Barbie for president!!! LOL

  • jeremy - 2010-02-24 12:55

Personally I'm surprised she got 7 years. Her defence was trying for a correctional supervision sentence based on her alleged inability to escape the evil influence of her co-accused Dirk Prinsloo. I think 7 years is fair. I doubt, now that Prinsloo is well and truly out of the picture, that Visser will ever re-offend, but the sentence does reinforce the message that people have to take responsibility for their own actions, rather than always blaming someone else! Are you listening Julius?

  • Paul - 2010-02-24 12:56

Agree with Advena, a man would have received a much longer sentence, it's unfair.

  • Wikkelspies - 2010-02-24 12:56

This lady is in for a seriously rude awakening . Coming down from the high life to a prison cell where she will pay for every favour with her unowhat , from hardened criminals will affect this lady . I trust she was immediately marched of to Pretoria Central and if she wishes to appeal - do it from behind bars , like the Americans and other civilized countries

  • strange - 2010-02-24 12:56

Weird how everyone cries "what a short sentance" yet nobody seems to mind how many innocent people McBride killed, (and yes given the choice I'd rather be raped than killed) and he gets a top government job.

Just because her case received media attention doesnt mean she should sit longer than the other monkies. Equality is all I ask (in the sentences handed down, and the comments of Joe public).

  • Gabriele - 2010-02-24 12:56

I am a survivor of sexual abuse and rape. It took me years to come to terms with it. Yes, the system failed me as much as it fails to protect children today. I feel for this woman and yet, my heart goes out to the children who have to cope with the consequences of this terrible memory. I hope that all kids receive the right amount of support in the future since the road of recovery is going to be difficult. As for Cezanne, yes, she must take responsibility for her deeds, she is the adult and had a choice...Yet, I can feel for her too... Our society has become infected with a terrible numbness, sex and porn have nothing to do with loving relationships. too much emphasis on sex instead of love-making, too much self gratification instead of giving...

  • VG - 2010-02-24 12:57

It's a cliche but true: those girls she abused are going to serve a life sentence; she'll get away with under seven and be able to move on with her life all the while blaming Prinsloo to ease her conscience. When will judges in SA learn???!! WE DO NOT WANT MURDERERS, RAPISTS AND PAEDOPHILES IN OUR MIDST. lOCK THEM UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY.

  • neilo - 2010-02-24 12:59

@IIZE - if you can read english im sure you can write english cause you just confused the hell out of me. she'll be singing the Barbie girl song on her way to Sun her sentence is toooo lenient.she needs the death penalty.

  • Fireflies - 2010-02-24 12:59

@Gary "pucker up those lips barbie" what comes around goes around very light sentence but her punishment will come in the form of her cell mate whose a hefty cross eyed dudette who wants to be called Princess...

  • andre - 2010-02-24 12:59

she deserves what she got... however... our President does not get judged by the same rules... he raped! finished and klaar... he to shpuld rot in jail!!!

  • Annon - 2010-02-24 13:00

I agree with Jaco Greeff.....typical of our sick twisted society. Children get raped, abused and killed and society is shocked, this EDUCATED (let wel !!!) abuses children and only gets 7 seis tog years, no doubt will get out after 2 yrs,,,and then on the other side of the coin DSTV wants more porn on tv....and then society is shocked and appauled with innocnet children get raped and abused. HELLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOO.......

  • Tango - 2010-02-24 13:00

I am glad she is off to jail. I hope she does not appeal and gets out in 6 months or so. She must serve the FULL term. She is as guilty as Prinsloo and I believe she could have walked out when the kiddie stuff started. Going to be interesting how the other inmates receive her. Apparently child abusers don't have a good time.

  • Bertha - 2010-02-24 13:01

Great!! Justice is served. All very well to say she was under Prinsloo's spell.. but hey!! she's a well educated lady and an advocate to boot, how can she not know what is wrong or right. However, our politicians should face the same justice. Equal JUSTICE FOR ALL!!
