Bees attack elderly woman

2012-11-14 08:39

Durban - An elderly woman had to be hospitalised after she was attacked by bees that were disturbed by her dog urinating on their hive.

Mogie Kanniappan, 70, was outside her Verulam home with her dog on Monday when the animal disturbed the bees' hive and they came after her, reported The Mercury. She ran about 200m but collapsed on the pavement.

Neighbours covered her with blankets and sprayed insecticide over her.

A police spokesperson said the quick-thinking by neighbours probably saved her life.

She was stung on her face, arms, legs and head and was admitted to hospital.

She was discharged from hospital on Tuesday.
