Behind the safety of their glass screens – Twitterverse on lion attack

On Monday (June 2 2015) a woman was mauled to death by a lion after her windows were rolled down as she drove through the Lion Park in Johannesburg. The woman, an American tourist, had been warned not to roll down her windows but ignored the signs. 

Once the story broke people took to Twitter to express their feelings. The lack of “chill” shown by the Twitterverse was nothing less than what we’ve come to expect:

Many felt that the story being told was one sided and called for the lioness’ side to be told: 

Concerned tweeps asked if the lioness would be put down:

Their concerns were taken into account – the lioness has been moved to a seprate enclosure and will not be put down:

The driver of the vehicle also sustained injuries trying to help the woman but survived the attack and is in a stable condition:
