Malema property auction

Another property belonging to Julius Malema was auctioned. Bidders arrived at the Flora Park property in Polokwane, where the house sold for R1.4m. See all the pictures.

Johannesburg - People interested in bidding at auction for the Polokwane house of Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema started arriving at the premises shortly after 08:00 on Tuesday.

Seven luxury vehicles were parked outside the property. At least one security official was stationed at the house.

Besides its high-walls, there was not much to differentiate the house from other properties in the area.

Auctioneer Aaggie Stroh, of Eli Stroh Properties, said the auction was expected to raise around R1.5m.

"The house is in an excellent condition, with a garden prepared by professionals," said Stroh.

"The area is a middle class area, [but] it is not economically viable."

The SA Revenue Service attached the house at 23 Mopani Street in Flora Park to recoup a R16m tax debt owed by the expelled ANC Youth League president.

Malema's incomplete mansion in Sandton was sold at auction for R5.9m in May. His farm fetched R2.5m at auction in June. Several of his household goods were also auctioned off earlier in the year.
