2012-03-05 11:03

Johannesburg - A motorcyclist was killed in an accident involving a security vehicle on Beyers Naude Drive in Johannesburg on Monday morning, Gauteng paramedics said.

"The accident took place around 07:00 on Monday, in the direction of Cresta," ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said.

The 24-year-old man lost control of his motorbike and crashed into a security vehicle.

"He was flung into the air and came down on a moving vehicle before landing on the ground."

The man sustained serious head and internal injuries as well as multiple fractures.

He was declared dead on the scene.

    Too many bikers dying...sad

      Godfrey - 2012-03-05 12:47

Too many bikers racing around like idiots with a death wish.

      Randomhero6661 - 2012-03-05 12:52

too many idiots exposed to keyboards and the internet...

      marnusmnorval - 2012-03-05 12:57

SAD? please 99% of the time its because they drive to fast and zig zag the traffic.. Then they moment they are in an accident its every body else's fault

      oren.moodley - 2012-03-05 14:27

Godfrey, your an idiot. Somebody died, show more respect. I have seen a few bike accidents and most of the time it was a stupid car driver that dint follow the rules of the road. A bike is a much more dangerous vehicle to drive. Hence much more deaths when there are accidents.

      wcslater - 2012-03-05 20:56

      Think car...

      louis.langenhoven - 2012-03-05 15:18

@Dale you mean he should try another Bud?

      infijar.ken - 2012-03-05 15:32

Leave the lad alone Dale, it is obvious that English is not his first language. At least he made an effort, moreso than those who insist of typing r for are, u for you etc. Angelo, your thoughts are understood and appreciated. (A Biker).

    Another brother down RIP

  • Stephen - 2012-03-05 12:15

I would like to know how he "lost control" could it be our badly dilapidated roads?

      Godfrey - 2012-03-05 12:48

More likely a dilapidated brain seeing the way bikers behave on the roads.

      Stephen - 2012-03-05 13:40

So I deduce you believe the roads are acceptable? You just upset because you have to sit in traffic.

      Godfrey - 2012-03-05 13:54

@Stephen Did I say that? Do you know what a straw man is?

      Stephen - 2012-03-05 14:50

No Godfrey, you obviously didn't as it is not written there is it? If you had taken the time to see the ? at the end of the sentence you would have realised I had been asking you a question and not saying you had said anything.

      peake.grant - 2012-03-05 16:02

Yes Stepen, riding through Robertson on roads slick with diesel is no joke, Idiot Godfrey should get on a bike and see the difference.

      kyle.sullivan69 - 2012-03-05 19:04

Plus the faster you ride through traffic the quicker you get passed cars before they hit you

      Bigsister - 2012-03-06 09:14

There is nothing wrong with the road where this accident took place, I drove past and saw the guy lying on the road before emergency services arrived. The problem is that these bikers weave between the lanes in order to go faster than the cars. In American and England bikes are not allowed to do that, they have to ride in the lanes just like cars do. Perhaps South Africa should consider introducing the same legislation here rather than making them ride with their lights on to make them more visible. Think bike and JUST DO IT!

      Hugh - 2012-03-06 10:12

Bigsister, you know stuff all about the laws in the USA or UK, so dont spew your crap here, Godfrey, when your old enough to have children, may you also suffer loss.

  • Paula - 2012-03-05 12:58

  • Arthur - 2012-03-05 13:17

If bikers stick to speed limits less bike accidents would occur. How many delivery bikers die in accidents and how many other bikers die in accidents. Any road death is sad. I had a bike accident some years ago cause I became windgat. Luckily I survived. Speed Kills people.

      procold2 - 2012-03-05 13:54

so do drivers that dont look out for bikes, dont know who or what is this case though, rip

      Arthur - 2012-03-05 14:12

Why must all drivers be on the lookout of bikers. Can't bikers also be on the lookout for other drivers. Just obey the road traffic laws and we all will be fine. Sure some car drivers also speed. Bikers overdo it and have a windgat attitude in general. To the family of the guy who passed away, My prayers are with you.

  • abner.malema - 2012-03-05 13:32

RIP. Bikers pls drive slowly. no zigzag

  • M3lissa.B0tha - 2012-03-05 13:45

RIP biker. To those stating that it's because bikers drive to fast, firstly, do you always stick 100% to the speed limit? Secondly, I lost 2 innocent friends because another guy was doing close to 200 so please don't generalise, the ones paying with their lives are often the innocent ones.

      Bigsister - 2012-03-06 09:18

Yes Melissa - speed kills, I just wish people would get that.

  • Lebohang - 2012-03-05 13:51

  • David - 2012-03-05 17:00

Not everyone who owns a bike is a "biker". Some people use bikes to commute and dont wear leather and patches and go on breakfast runs...I own a bike and use it occasionally and I too HATE these idiots on pocket rockets acting like morons but one of you know what the circumstances were so unless you do may I suggest you reserve comment and just feel for the family left behind.

  • Yolandè Rwaai - 2012-03-05 17:47

The good really do die young. R.I.P Ryan. You were so kind & so gentle. You were the reason I looked forward to go going to work everyday. You will be missed...

  • Luvo - 2012-03-05 18:39

Condolences to his family. The way these bikers ride on our freeways is completely unbelievable. Not only they do not keep to the speed limit but they ride very close to cars in between lanes. I nearly took out one of them as I was trying to change lanes and my blind spot mirror picked him up almost too late. Something needs to be done about these bikers before similar accidents recur.

      Hugh - 2012-03-07 08:54

Good point, add to that, an indicator isn't a magic wand, or an ornament.

  • Maximus Odinidus - 2012-03-05 22:28

I have to set the record str8 here. In the area of cape town where I live, nobody obeys the speed limit. Not even the old grannies. Everybody does 80-100 kph in a 60 zone. That nonsense of bikers must obey speed limits is just a 4wheelers way of explaining away why they shouldn't/can't be held responsible.

      Maximus Odinidus - 2012-03-05 22:32

There is a lack of tolerance for anyone who drives a different car than yours. And the more expensive your car, the more you feel entitled to the road. It's all good for you to do 160kph in your BMW but if a biker passes you at that speed they are irresponsible. I challenge every driver to obey all road rules before opening their mouthes in judgement.

  • Maximus Odinidus - 2012-03-05 22:37

R.I.P. fellow rider, may your journeys be as thrilling and free as it was in life and may the people you leave behind find solace in knowing that all bikers mourn the loss of another rider. Even though we didn't know you. God bless.

  • God-send The-lady Bravëhëart Mabaso - 2012-03-05 23:42

Ryan Rik I will never in my Life forget a soft spoken person like you. You touched many Lives,Bike or Car or Bicycle. FACT WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE. Sweet Heart you loved your speed an it happened that today the oh mighty wanted his angel back to his temple an you were involved in an ACCIDENT. Love you Ryan,an you wouldn't advise another person to buy a Bike,as you said I LOVE BIKE'S AN I KNOW AN HAVE ACCEPTED THAT MY WAY WITH THEM IS BEING PARALISE OR DEATH. RYAN IF I HAD THE POWERS I WOULD BRING YOU BACK TO LIVE. RIP SWEET HEART *breaking down*

  • Dhavandran - 2012-03-06 09:32

thats why i belong to the ullysses sa biking have to be over forty to join and responsible. our rallys are not just booze and jolls but filled with fun filled activities for the whole family.join us on our next rally in east london and see for yourself. our motto is" growing old disgracefully " i just wish the youngsters on superbikes become more car conscious just as we want the motorists to "think bike" RIP,hambe gashle.

  • christiepelser - 2012-03-06 09:38

Too all that have hate comments about Ryan, he was my friend and a good one. Bikers have more power over the road and you should look out for them all the time, yes they might drive around with fancy bikes and some might ride like idiots but Ryan would never do that on a busy road especially. RIP my buddy missing you loads wish I could say we will see you this weekend!

  • Ashen - 2012-03-06 10:05

I see many bikers riding with shorts, t-shirt, and flip flops. I cringe when i see that. I'm a biker myself and I'm overly cautious even with all of my riding gear on. Respect should be mutual. Bikers - respect our four wheeled friends. Cars - respect your two wheeled friends...please

  • Muhammad - 2012-03-06 11:12

Yo Ryan, Wat up G , Thanks for so much, always rem you, gonna miss you, RIP

  • brad.schafer3 - 2012-03-06 15:13

RIP young man tragically cut down in your youth. A fellow biker and two wheeled commuter.Yes some bikers are stupid when they ride and they are generally the GP/sport biker riders.REMEMBER lane splitting is a privilege not a right. To all the drivers out there smoking, drinking and texting while driving …. no wonder you are the cause of accidents and death. I see at least 8 incidents of people driving like this every day. One stupid you young lady smoking and texting was weaving across two lanes near lone hill a while back. Nearly took me out on my bike. I banged on her window to alert/wake her up and got the finger in retort. Then she went straight back to texting. Some drivers are only alive becasue its illegaal too shoot them. (teksi)

  • Candice - 2012-03-06 15:26

Rypie my heart still hurts.... n my prayer goes out to claudie n his family. I drove past their today n my heart still hurts and feels heavy.... as it did yesterday. Funny thing all thats left are the glasses on the road,n the memories that would last forever. He was taken way too soon.... and he left a void in everyones heart....The one thing i learned was that life is far too precious not to let those we love know how we truly feel!!!!! RIP RYPIE!!!!

  • Leigh-ann Macaskill - 2012-03-06 16:02
