Johannesburg - A motorcyclist died on Monday when his motorbike hit the back of car on the N1 in Randburg, Gauteng paramedics said.

"Paramedics found the 30-year-old man lying in the fast lane of the highway after he was flung from his bike when he collided into the back of a car," said ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson.

He was declared dead on the scene of the crash at about 07:00 on Monday.

"The driver of the car was severely traumatised by the accident. No one else was injured," said Jackson.

I was behind him on my bike and very sad indeed. Just a correction, he did not collide in the back of the car, but hit the front right side of the car and then collided into the barrier and skid onto the fast lane. I administered CPR for 15 minutes until paramedics arrived on scene and they declared him dead @ 07:45. Condolences to his family (mother and father was on scene) and our prayers are with friends and family.

That's touching. It's aweful losing loved ones to vehicle accidents. Just such a needless loss

wow you really deserve a medal there should be more people like you in our country thank you for trying your best to assist!

Thanks Natzi. Only trying to help and treat others the way I want to be treated. Still a shock though. Other people that stopped and assisted me while we waited for ambos also deserve medals. Really great to see complete strangers assisting others in need.

Dear cma.randburg. James was my brother and I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you did for my brother. I have just arrived from the uk to be with my family, and my mom and dad wanted to thank you too. It's some condolence that there are still people who will stop and help a stranger, and the extreme kindness you showed my mom at the scene was extraordinary compassion. God bless you. The memorial service is being held on Saturday 12 noon at Martins Chapel, 564 Ontdekkers Rd. x

This is why i'll never drive a motorbike. Too dangerous and no protection in event of an accident. RIP

      deirdre.maule - 2012-07-06 13:45

There's inherent danger in any kind of transport Mike, and bikes are as dangerous as the next kind. It's all relative. I've been riding for 17 years and have had one minor slow speed accident, I know people who have been driving for as many years and have written off countless vehicles... just saying RIP James, I hope you didn't suffer much.
