Durban - A man travelling on a motorbike died after being flung from his bike when it collided with a car travelling along the N2  between Paddock and Izingolweni on Saturday morning, paramedics said in a statement.

KwaZulu-Natal EMS spokesperson Robert Mckenzie said their paramedics and a private ambulance service responded to the accident, about 40km inland from Port Shepstone.

"A car and a motor bike have collided, in what according to the paramedics who were on scene, was a head on collision. The man driving the motor bike sadly died at the scene of the crash, after being flung off his motor bike on impact."

The two occupants of the car, both men, aged 25 and 35 years respectively, were also seriously injured in the collision, Mckenzie said.

"They were treated by KZN EMS paramedics before being transported to Murchison Hospital for continued medical care.

The road way was partially obstructed and officers from the RTI had to guide motorists past the scene.

The police are investigating the exact circumstances preceding the crash.
