Bloodied cricket bat found in Oscar's home

2013-02-17 10:09

Pretoria – The latest development into the investigation surrounding the shooting death of model Reeva Steenkamp has centred on a bloodied cricket bat found in the home of her boyfriend and alleged attacker, Oscar Pistorius.

Eyewitness News reported that City Press alleged that the cricket bat was at the centre of the murder investigation against the star athlete.

Police were investigating two possibilities: that the cricket bat was used by Steenkamp to defend herself or that Pistorius used it to break down the bathroom door to get access to where Steenkamp was hiding.

According to police sources, the first shot was fired in the bedroom and that the other three were fired at her through the bathroom door.

A friend of Pistorius, Justin Divaris, told the Mirror Online that Pistorius had called him first after the shooting.

Divaris said Pistorius was shocked at his actions and was barely making sense over the phone.

Pistorius was said to break down frequently during his court appearance on Friday and family described his emotional state as “numb” with shock and grief.

Innocent until proven guilty. He did shoot her, but we do not know if it was an accident. The court must decide. We still have no motive. Why throw his life away? Makes no sense. Or was this "roid rage"? Hope they test for steroids.

      nitatjie007 - 2013-02-17 11:38

Shaun, seriously, let's carry on? He killed his gf in cold blood! Sure I have respect for his accomplishments but that's where it ends. He represented SA, he represented you and ME! My kids looked up to this man, no way I'm teaching my kids to kill someone and apologise and carry on?! WTF? What is the difference between him and the men who killed Anene Booysen??? NOTHING...they are murderers and has to pay the price for thei crimes

      sandy.rushmer - 2013-02-17 12:00

      malcolm.james.macleod - 2013-02-17 21:41

The mental contortions some people will go through to try defend the made up image of an athlete they used to like (just because he can run fast) rather than confront the fact that they were wrong about him and he wasn't the man they though he was is simply astounding. Shaun, what you are saying here defies all logic, disgusting, face up to reality already.

Oscar is a role model for many kids sending him to jail will give a bad message. Let him practice for Rio

      john.parkerwood.9 - 2013-02-17 10:43

Shaun, could there be someone more naïve than you? I think not. He says it was a mistake, so we should just believe him. What a joke. Where were you raised? In wonderland? Are you 5 years old?

      john.parkerwood.9 - 2013-02-17 10:58

The SAP do a fantastic job a lot of the time...the media just don't report on it, or people don't read about it, as it doesn't involve a sports star.

      shaun.duplooy.92 - 2013-02-17 11:14

you guys are all looking through the same hole, a very very small hole. He did not mean to shoot her, he thought is was a thief. Was he supposed to wait and see who the thief was? .. What if the thief has a AK, they they would both be dead

      lizonia.stellenberg - 2013-02-17 11:34

  • Kwanele Mzwanele Masoka - 2013-02-17 10:28

First shot fired inside the bathroom and three through the bathroom door from outside, and there is a cricket bat involved somewhere somehow... This doesn't look good for one of my favourite star athletes. Me thinks the intention to kill and cover up was there.

Ok, here is my theory. They argue in the bedroom. Pistol Pete loses it, clobbers her with a cricket bat against the head. She goes down and he grabs the pistol to finish her off. She recovers, gets to her feet and flees to the bathroom. He gets one shot off and hits her before she leaves the bedroom. She makes it to the bathroom and has time to shut the door. He then fires the other shots through the bathroom door fatally injuring her.

Media is the Judge and the people that believe everything they read in the print are the jury! "According to police sources, the first shot was fired in the bedroom and that the other three were fired at her through the bathroom door." These sources need to be brought to account for revealing information to the media. Lets just say, the sources pockets are lined with notes. Any official statement from the police would certainly have the name of the source attached! Let the courts decide if he is innocent or guilty, altgough, any future juror will be well informed by now and will have made their minds up already.
