Boy, 11, in court for murder

2013-02-28 08:31

Port Elizabeth - An 11-year-old boy will appear in the children’s court in Port Elizabeth following the murder of a 6-year-old boy in St Francis Bay.

The boy had been stabbed in the neck and was found lying in bushes, reported Eyewitness News.

Police said several boys had been questioned in connection with the murder but had later been released.

The 11-year-old boy, however, was taken to a place of safety.

A magistrate on Wednesday ruled that the boy should appear in a Port Elizabeth court on Thursday.

I fear for my kid's safety and the township environment is a no go zone for civilization .

i find your comment a tad bit ignoramus. while i agree our townships are no paradise. m not commenting on it not being violent but you saying it's a no go area for civilization ever lived in one? i find many people from townships would be a bit more civilized that most here(n24). You only get to read stories of misfits/anomalies here, but live in one you'll see. oh and murder(violence) not a matter of civilization: just watch the following channels for a day if u can: Crime, Discovery ID, CBS e.t.c you'll see that so called civilized kids can also murder. i won't point out all the cases.

And didn't Oscar Pistorius more recently shot and kill someone? How civilised is that for someone who didn't grow up in a townshio.

Doesnt mention that they boy was murdered in a township; last time I checked St Francis Bay was an affluent white suburb with a high fire risk.

      Gary Guy - 2013-02-28 11:18

@mike - it does not say it was a township, but the point is, if you had to bet your house on it, which way would YOU bet?

Ray and his ignorance. I really feel pity for your kids to have a dad like u!

      bophelo.malapela - 2013-02-28 14:21

Really Ray where did you grow up that's a dumb thing to say

      bophelo.malapela - 2013-02-28 14:23

@jesibelle.kruger whatever ANC does will never trump the hell your forefathers created for black people in this country

      bophelo.malapela - 2013-02-28 14:26

@jesibelle.kruger how many of ur leaders including PW Botha appeared at TRC? It is a travesty that freedom fighters were lumped together with apartheid thugs

Thats wrong mentality. Anyplace in SA is very dangerous. REEVAS was gunned down in the most civilised places with the most adored SA athelet not with a savage fro township.

Dis onmoontlik om te glo. So jong seun. Hy moet gestraf word, maar nie in die tronk gesit word ni. In n plek waar hy gehelp kan word.

      jesibelle.krugger - 2013-02-28 09:24

He is probably of Calvinist religion - so then he just killed one of his "possessions"... PS: There is NO apology on earth that will EVER undo the hell-hole the ANC has created. Never in SA's entire history has it been this bad.

This is the examples we, the adults of today are setting our children. We let criminals get away with murder, or profit from it. We demand, strike and destroy if things aren't going our way. Then we are surprised when our children do the same. This is the sick symptom of a very very sick society. Thank you ANC government.

Enough is enough now-our country needs a system to deal with under-age offenders. More and more crime commited by under 18's but no system in place to deal with them!

This is tragic.....and an 11 year old boy the culprit. Why so much violence....can one contribute it to TV or the games children play these days. Tv programmes filled with violence, the tv or playstation games all violent. Maybe I am too old to say any thing because it was unheard of in my days at school.
