Johannesburg - Just moments after posing with his dream car, a Ferrari, a 5-year-old Gauteng boy was knocked down and killed by a woman who had allegedly been speeding up and down the road.

Olerato Chiloane-Makena loved Ferraris so much that when he heard a visitor was driving his dream car, he had to go outside to see the car.

The boy posed next to the Ferrari for photographs and moments later, was hit by a car speeding down the road of his grandparents’ house in Soshanguve near Pretoria, reported The Sowetan.

The boy’s uncle, Aaron Ngobeni, said the car that hit his nephew was a black Jeep Compass with a female driver who was attending a party down the road.

The car had been speeding up and down the road prior to the incident, said the uncle.

After hitting the boy, the Jeep driver simply sped off.

"Olerato tried to run away but the SUV hit him, sent him through the air and he hit a low brick wall," said the boy’s cousin, Mbali Monanyane.

The little boy died on the way to hospital.

Family and friends searched for the car and finally found it hidden in another area.

Police were attempting to trace the owner.
