Johannesburg - Willem Frederick John Coetzer, convicted of killing night club owner Bruno Bronn, is expected to be sentenced in the Western Cape High Court on Monday.

Coetzer was convicted of the murder on Friday.

"You are guilty on both counts, guilty of murder and secondly you are found guilty of robbery with aggravating circumstances", Judge John Hlope told Coetzer.

Bronn was strangled in his Sea Point, Cape Town, home on the night of Monday, 6 February 2012.

Coetzer, a bouncer at Bronn's gay night club, The Bronx, claimed his co-accused Fareez Allie orchestrated the murder.

However, the court rejected his version of events and acquitted Allie. Allie's cellphone records showed he was not at Bronn's house during the murder.

A second accused, Achmat Toffa, was acquitted on the charges of murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances, but was convicted on a count of theft. Coetzer had given him Bronn's cellphone to sell.

The evidence before the court and the testimony of witnesses indicated Coetzer acted alone. His DNA was found under Bronn's fingernails and his belt was used to strangle Bronn.
