Brothers held for hacking man to death

Johannesburg - Two brothers were arrested after they allegedly hacked a man to death in KwaNobuhle, near Uitenhage on Tuesday morning, Eastern Cape police said.

Lieutenant Colonel Priscilla Naidu said the 45-year-old man was chased out of his ex-girlfriend's house on Monday night.

He returned to the house just after midnight with a panga and smashed several windows before breaking down the door.

The woman's brothers then caught the man and attacked him with his own panga - as well as a spade and an axe. He died at the scene.

The brothers were expected to appear in the KwaNobuhle Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

So let's get this straight; man breaks in intending to murder residents, they DEFEND themselves get arrested, so death or jail. Not much of a choice if you ask me. I applaud the fact that they rid za of yet another criminal.

@KEMP.JP, that's exactly what many people like you say when SAPS kill suspects, but you play dumb & pretend as if you don't know what's wrong with police when they turn the barrel of the gun to their families( wives & children). obviously they didn't him once & he fell dead, if they wanted to disarm him they would have done so, but they wanted to kill him as they always do in that part of SA in the form of mob justice( I call them organized murderers)

i dont care if considered unlawful in this country to kill someone but the moment you pose a threat to my life i'll kill you.

      Gichumz - 2012-06-05 14:53

      Yes i would too!!!

It's called self-defence, thus completely lawful. The arrests is just a part of a process. They will most likely go free of any charge. A guy breaks into my house with a panga, he will die a short but painful death.

The guy broke into the house after midnight, brandishing a panga. They were protecting their sister. Guaranteed he didn't go there with a panga in hand just to have a chat.

Nothing justifies hacking a man to death. I assure you, the fatal wounds would've occurred while he was curled up on the floor.

      frank.c.cruz.98 - 2012-06-05 16:36

I agree with the self defense thing, if they did not act, their sister or one of them boys would have been the one butchered!

eish kodwa...the deceased made an uninformed decision storming another mans house and breaking windows, doors and threatening the entire family. he shouldn't have disrespected a house which has 2 willing and able boys in this manner...on the same token the law doesn't make provisions for chasing down someone beating them to death

  • Mike Purchase - 2012-06-05 16:21

I agree Mosa for self defence yes.

  • braamc - 2012-06-05 17:06

    Savage species

  • WitWolf - 2012-06-05 17:28

If that wasn't self defense then I don't know anymore. Anybody entering my home will be killed if they put me or my girl and son at risk. I do not care if you are white, black, Asian, Egyptian or what race you are. You will leave this premises in a Hurst.
