Candidates shortlisted for judicial positions

Johannesburg - The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has shortlisted candidates for three judge president and four judge positions, it said on Thursday.

They will be interviewed in Cape Town between 13 and 17 April, the JSC said in a statement.

The JSC called for nominations on 20 January, with the closing date on 13 February.

One judge president vacancy was available at each of the KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo Divisions of the High Court and at the Land Claims Court.

For the KwaZulu-Natal judge president position, only Deputy Judge President Achmat Naaim Jappie was shortlisted.

For the Limpopo judge president position, Judge Francis Legodi and Judge Ephraim Makgoba were shortlisted.

For the Land Claims Court, Judge Elias Matojane and Acting Judge President Yasmin Shenaz Meer were shortlisted.

There were two vacancies for judges each at the Supreme Court of Appeal and the Eastern Cape Division of the High Court.

The high court vacancies were in Bhisho and Grahamstown.

In total, 16 candidates were shortlisted.
