Cape Town businessman dies after shooting

Cape Town - A 72-year-old businessman who was shot in the face during an armed robbery in Maitland on Friday, morning has died in hospital.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut confirmed the business owner had been admitted to hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound during the incident, which took place at 08:30.

"Three suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and are yet to be arrested," he said.

The victim is understood to be the owner of a deli in Voortrekker Road.
