Cape Town - A Cape Town fisherman is missing after he
fell overboard from a crayfish boat near the Cape Point Nature Reserve on
Friday, the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) said.
NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the boat was
retrieving nets close to the shore when its propellers became entangled with
kelp.
"While trying to expel the kelp, a wave side-swiped
the boat and swamped [it], causing a 30-year-old... fisherman onboard to fall out
of the boat," he said.
The boat's crew only noticed the man's absence when they
had recovered from the near capsizing.
An air, sea, and shore search commenced and the man's
life jacket was found.
Lambinon said dense fog was hampering search efforts.
An inquest docket was opened.
