Cape Town - A girl was shot in the leg and a man critically wounded in Belhar, Cape Town, the Cape Argus reported on Monday.

Two gunmen shot at the man, aged 27, in Matroosberg Crescent on Sunday afternoon. He was hit five times as he tried to escape.

Jasmyne Strydom, aged 13, was standing in a shop queue with friends when a stray bullet hit her in the achilles tendon.

The two were rushed to hospital.

Strydom became the third child shot in September in Cape Town. A few weeks ago, her cousin Rashid Davids, aged 19, was shot and killed in the same street.

This should now be a national priority, people cannot live like this more especially our children who are the future of this country.
