Cape Town - A young Cape Town man has been jailed for 15 years for murdering a woman and hiding her body in a drawer under his bed, the Cape Argus reported.

Charlton Douw, from Kraaifontein, admitted to killing 19-year-old Ge-Audrey Green on 7 February. His mother found the body in his bedroom two days later.

Douw, 21, admitted that he invited Green to his flat which was behind his family’s home, the Argus reported.

Sapa reported in February that police initially believed Green had been raped but Douw claimed in a sentence agreement before the Western Cape High Court that the two had consensual sex.

However, when she started to scream, he became worried that his grandparents would hear them and he strangled the young woman.

Douw’s sentenced was reduced due to mitigating factors including that he was young and was addicted to tik at the time of the murder.
