Johannesburg - The head of a Cape minstrels' association was expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court on Thursday, facing charges of drunken driving and possession of a firearm and tik.

Cape Town Minstrels' Carnival Association chairperson Richard 'Pot' Stemmet was charged alongside Shahiel Julius following a police raid on a house in Steenberg.

The case was postponed to November 8, when the blood-alcohol test reports were expected to be ready.

Does it make any difference that the man is head of a minstrels association? Would news24 have run this story if the man was a shopkeeper? This is not national news, this is a three line story on page 10 of the local news, right below the story of a missing cat.
