Cape fire burned 6 900 hectares, cost R6m

At a media briefing on Thursday, SANParks estimated that the cost of the recent Cape fire damage was in the region of R6 million, with a total of 6900 hectares of vegetation being destroyed. Watch to find out more.WATCH

Cape Town - A vegetation fire along Camps Bay Drive in Cape Town is threatening property in the area.

Crews from the City of Cape Town, Table Mountain National Park and Working on Fire are battling the blaze.

Theo Lane of Cape Town Fire and Rescue says that already 42 firefighters have been deployed.

Brett Herron the councillor for the area has tweeted that the Camps Bay Drive is closed in both directions in the vicinity of Camps Bay Primary's Sports Grounds.
