Three people were injured, one critically, after a vehicle veered off the road on the N2 at Umgababa this morning, Netcare 911 said on Sunday.

Spokesperson Chris Botha said a report from the scene indicated that the occupants of the car were travelling from the Umkomaas area when the vehicle veered off the roadway, smashed through the Armco barriers, hit the ground and then flew about 150 metres before landing nose first into the clump of trees.

Their paramedics arrived at the scene and found that two of the women had been ejected and landed in thick bush several metres from the car, while a third managed to clambered out and was found under the trees.

After paramedic stabilised the patients, they managed to carry the injured up the embankment with the help of tow truckers and locals who arrived at the scene.
