Cape Town - Motorists have been urged to check the renewal status of their licence discs as some vehicle owners have not received notices to renew their annual vehicle licences, the City of Cape Town has said.

This as the National Department of Transport is currently transferring the Electronic National Traffic Information System (eNaTIS) to the Road Traffic Management Centre.

Motorists who were supposed to renew their licence discs by the end of September are being affected, the City said in a statement.

As a result, long queues have been reported at the motor vehicle licensing offices across the city.

Council officials advise motorist to renew their licence discs online at this link.

Alternatively, visit the nearest vehicle licensing office with your ID and complete a green ‘Application for Licencing of Motor Vehicle’ form.

Motorists have a 21-day grace period in which to renew their licence discs from the end of their renewal period.
