Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Lebese will be back in court at the end of the month to face charges of assault and malicious damage to property.

The case against the soccer star was postponed to April 30 for the outcomes of lawyers' representations, after he made a brief appearance in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

Lebese allegedly assaulted his 22-year-old girlfriend, damaging her car in Silverton on February 8.

The pair allegedly had a confrontation at the Jack Budha nightclub in Mamelodi West, Pretoria, after Lebese received a phone call apparently from another woman.

The girlfriend left in her car and was pursued by Lebese.

He allegedly forced her to stop driving, damaged her car and assaulted her.

The 26-year-old handed himself over to police two days later.

He was charged with assault and malicious damage to property.

He is currently out on R1 000 bail.
