City’s plans for dump site

THE Eastwood dump site found in Malva Place is being considered as a site for a recycling plant following the uproar from residents on the situation of the dump.

Msunduzi Municipality acting spokesperson Nqobile Madonda said yesterday that although residents are complaining about the placement of the dump site, “it has been in operation for years”.

The Witness yesterday published a story voicing the concerns of nearby residents at the proximity of the dump.

Madonda said it is classified as a garden refuse dump site and there are short- to long-term plans to improve the site’s efficiency and include a recycling element.

The site is monitored by the Msunduzi parks department and there is a garden site attendant on the premises, said Madonda
