Cold, stormy weather ahead

2011-09-02 07:38

Cape Town - The South African Weather Service has issued several weather warnings for the southern and south-western parts of the country, forecasting cold and stormy conditions for the next few days.

The Western and Eastern Cape have been warned to expect gale to strong gale-force winds between Plettenberg Bay and Port Alfred, with rough seas.

Temperatures in Cape Town will remain low on Friday, with a maximum of 13°C expected. Saturday will see some sunshine in the Mother City, although it will still be cold with a minimum of 7°C and a maximum of 12°C.

Very cold conditions have been forecast for the Northern Cape, with towns like Sutherland and Fraserburg expecting minimum temperatures of 0°C and 2°C respectively.

The Eastern Cape has also been warned to expect gale-force winds and rough seas.

Rough seas and swells of up to nine metres have also been predicted for KwaZulu-Natal, especially in the Kosi Bay area on Saturday.

Gauteng is expected to have spring weather, with cold mornings but maximum temperatures in the mid-20s on Friday and over the weekend.

      mysticBoer - 2011-09-02 07:54

Time to start up the slow cooker down here!

      Enigma - 2011-09-02 08:51

I think the curry, a bottle of brandy and another man's wife will do the trick,hehehehe......

      Brad - 2011-09-02 09:13

Ooh yeah! A lekker braai out by the pool on the weekend. This time of the year in Joburg is so awesome! Crisp mornings, and hot, clear days...with no wind!

      Nero - 2011-09-02 10:08

      You're an idiot Enigma

      O-Kay - 2011-09-02 10:19

      crackerr - 2011-09-02 10:32

@ Enigma True. And don't forget the bicycle. For her to go to the bottle store and to fetch her sister as the fun unfolds.

      Enigma - 2011-09-02 11:08

@Nero- This was meant as a joke but hey it shows that people like you lack the sense of humour. You need to ease up, life is too short to be serious all the time. @crackerr, thanks for the support at least you got the joke. You deserve a bells and maybe just maybe give Nero some to loosen up.

      Diablo7 - 2011-09-02 11:08

@ Enigma....Like!!! So what time is your wife, GF or Sister is available?

      Enigma - 2011-09-02 11:18

@Diablo7, Sorry dude not married, no sister and GF well don't know if you can handle her. She's a tiger/tigress what ever you want to call her but I can give you my grandpa's girlfriend, she's in her 80's. Perhaps she can teach you a thing or two (again serious people it's a joke) heheheh....

      Barry - 2011-09-02 11:36

      @ Enigma Sinner

      Barry - 2011-09-02 11:38

@ crackerr Both you and Enigma are sinners of the worst kind.

      umhlopo - 2011-09-02 11:53

@ enigma ;sounds like you are or were a member of the saps thats their mentality

      zaatheist - 2011-09-02 11:56

Oh look at this fun-filled Barry fellow. What a killjoy. One assumes he is one of those gullible religious types who condemns all fun, laughter and genuine enjoyment as sin. Get a life man - and start reading something other than the buybull.

      crackerr - 2011-09-02 11:56

@ Barry Born that way. Thank god.

      moeggepraat - 2011-09-02 12:30

      I say......GIVE TAT MAN A BELLS!!!!!!!

      Enigma - 2011-09-02 12:37

Oh Barry and Nero, it looks like crackerr and I opened some old wounds. What's the problem did your spouses cheat on you(nothing personal). If that's the case then go out there and catch you another fish but becareful there are sharks out there.

      Enuff - 2011-09-02 12:51

@ Nero & Barry - Lighten up guys! It is Friday after all.

      Enigma - 2011-09-02 12:53

@umhlopo- You are making me blush, do you think I should go and audition? Maybe not I'm not into make beliefs and definitely they won't afford me(joke).

  • Brett - 2011-09-02 07:52

Not what the weather 24 page was saying about Cape Town, they said 24 today in Cape Town? HUH!

      saabnut - 2011-09-02 08:02

That forecast is completely wrong every day.

      Brad - 2011-09-02 08:25

I think they are in denial thinking it is still the spring day.. just like the Julius Malema saga!

      Benny66 - 2011-09-02 09:24

As Saabnut says - they NEVER get it right! But a difference of EIGHT DEGREES!!! (16 vs 24). How ridiculous. And all they had to do was watch last nights weather forecast on TV and repeat this in their own "forecast". How difficult can that be??

      gcr - 2011-09-02 10:06

There is a far better site for weather reports on cities in SA - go to - yes it is a site in Norway but it also has longer period forcasts

  • CapeTownJunk - 2011-09-02 08:32

It's supposed to be 33 deg C in Cape Town next Wednesday. I suspect that's totally wrong. It'll probably be closer to 33 deg F than 33 deg C. But we'll see.
