Commission arrives at Marikana

2012-10-01 15:27

Rustenburg - The judicial commission of inquiry into the Marikana shootings, with advocates, witnesses, and observers, congregated at the Lonmin platinum mine in the North West on Monday.

Some stood under umbrellas as they waited in the scorching sun for an in-loco inspection to start.

Residents from the nearby informal settlement approached the scene, singing struggle songs and carrying placards.

The placards read "Don't let the police get away with murder".

The crowd shouted "amandla, awethu" while they danced.

A group of policemen stood watching.

Yawn! We've seen the footage. We know who shooted first. Case closed.

lol - they should also report when they have just scratched their arses..! PLEASE man this is such a rubbish show! WASTE of our money! Somehow the fact that their salaries were not increased ended up using our tax money in the range of a few good 70-80million to find out that they were high on drugs and they were chasing a white rabbit..!

I would much prefer that all that money spent on this nonsense of an inquiry when we KNOW what happened be used for new housing! But NO - let's waste the money and time on things like blame-game! Don;t you guys see that zuma has diverted the whole story away from himself and his camp?

A camera showed a miner firing the shot that unleashed the live ammo from the SAPS, but of the 34 that died only 9 died in that area and the rest were killed at the koppie were they were hiding, after watching Carte Blanche two weeks ago I have reason to believe that apart from the 9 that was shot on live television, the rest were murdered in cold blood

@ Monde - shot in cold blood.. hehehehe, you're high, if you ever carry weapons at all. and somebody shoots you, you earned it, especially when its a cop. never bring a knife to a gun fight. I feel for all those dead, including those murderd by the miners, somehow their lives seem to have been less important to the media hype

      Just my opinion sir
