Conman targets Cape Town residents

2011-09-06 09:28

Cape Town - Officials have warned residents about a man who pretends to be an electricity meter reader in order to gain access to homes, and then robs them.

Home owners in Bellville, Parow and Plumstead were apparently targeted by the conman, reported Eyewitness News.

A Bellville resident said jewellery was missing after the so-called meter reader left the home.

A city spokesperson said residents should ask for the identity card of employees claiming to be from the City of Cape Town.

The card should give a name, staff number and department.

@ Eurocentric, what drugs are you on dude? Who is talking about racial justice and equality????? this article is about a conman stealing from homes he enters under false pretences. He is a CRIMINAL!!! Are you saying that because you assume he is black (which it does NOT say anywhere in the article) and therefore makes you a complete racist, that he has the right to steal? You are a disgrace!

      Eurocentric - 2011-09-06 14:41

People of colour must unite against racism, the white man. Balls 1-15 must unite against racism, the colourless ball.

      AntiRacist - 2011-09-06 15:21

@ET: My mom's meter is actually inside her house ... and she doesn't have prepaid electricity. So, there are different circumstances in different houses ...
