Contractor arrested for fraud

Johannesburg - A contractor to the KwaZulu-Natal department of public works was arrested for fraud on Tuesday, the department said.

The Hawks made the arrest as part of an investigation into tender fraud, said department spokesperson Sureshinee Govender.

Contracts to companies controlled by the man had been awarded in line with the government's equity policies.

The tender documents fraudulently indicated that the companies were controlled by black women - a practise known as "fronting".

More arrests were expected, Govender said.

If you have any information or evidence backing your statement, you know where to go my friend. I'm just referring to the one arrested by the authorities. Again, thank you for arresting that criminal.

The government's equity policies are racist in that a contractor is forced to partner with people of colour in the contractor’s boardroom; the blacker, the better. It's all about the colour of your skin before being allowed to tender. Yet be reminded that those hapless individuals who failed to oppose the previous Nat government’s racist policies have, by the ANC government, been hauled before the Truth & Reconciliation Council to answer for their racist deeds. Surely we should stand up to this government’s racist policies like sports quota’s; affirmative action; BEE and the like.

But I notice that the TRUE BEE contractors who commit the biggest amount of fraud in Durban (the Mpisanes) are only being investigated for tax fraud. The fraudulent contracts are just dandy. No-one is willing to take them on.
