Johannesburg - A policeman was killed and other injured
when their car collided with a truck near Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal police said
on Tuesday.
Warrant officers Siyabonga Mncwango, 45, and Bhekizitha
Moses Dube, 43, were on duty travelling in a state vehicle on the R616 between
Ladysmith and Bergville when they collided with the truck on Monday, police
spokesperson Jay Naicker said.
The truck allegedly veered into the path of the officers'
car and they collided head-on.
Dube died on the scene.
Mncwango sustained serious injuries and was taken to
hospital, along with the truck driver.
A case of culpable homicide was opened at the Bergville
police station.
"Warrant Officer Dube leaves behind his wife and
five children. At the time of his passing he had served the SA Police Service
for 20 years," Naicker said.
