Johannesburg - A police officer accused of raping a 14-year-old girl will appear in the Paarl Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) said.

The officer made his first court appearance on Friday and the case was postponed for a formal bail application, IPID spokesperson Moses Dlamini said.

In April this year he allegedly went to the girl's home and raped her twice without a condom.

On another day he allegedly took her to his house and raped her.

Afterwards he dropped the teenager off at school and told the teacher he needed to take a statement from her for a case he was investigating.

On another occasion, he picked her up in a police vehicle, took her to a field and allegedly raped her.

The rapes were reported on Tuesday, and the officer was arrested the following day.
