Polokwane - Limpopo police on Tuesday said they believed they had foiled the plans of four men who were allegedly on their way to carry out an armed robbery in Polokwane.

The four were arrested at a petrol station in the early hours of the morning, said police spokesperson Ronel Otto.

"During the arrest, members confiscated an unlicensed 9mm firearm and ammunition as well as house breaking equipment such as crowbars, pliers and screw drivers," said Otto.

"Several knives and suspected stolen goods such as laptops, expensive watches (Rolex) and music centres were also found in their possession."

The group was expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court.
