Cops hunt fired worker after attack

2012-09-08 17:00

Johannesburg - Police have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly stabbed his colleague and robbed her of cash after he was fired.

Captain Pinky Tsinyane said the Mozambican man who is in his late 20s attacked an employee at the Gourmet Food outlet based at SA Revenue Service (Sars) premises in Alberton on Thursday.

The employee, Natasha Cossadianos, a manager at Gourmet Food, a company subcontracted to cater meals at Sars, told The Saturday Star that she had been asked to give the former employee his severance package.

The man, who worked as a cleaner, had been dismissed on the day but remained behind to hand over his uniforms to Cossadianos who was supposed to give him R1 644.

Just as Cossadianos reached the safe, she felt a knife on her throat as the man demanded she gives her the money.

"I asked him to calm down and [told him] that I would pay him. But he further stuck the knife to my throat and threatened to slit me open," she told the newspaper.

The two then wrestled and Cossadianos was stabbed in the abdomen seven times before falling to the floor. She then kicked him and he stabbed her in her foot.

The cleaner then bashed her head with a fire extinguisher three times and left her almost unconscious.

He took the money and fled the scene.

Cossadianos was then rushed to hospital

Police opened a case of attempted murder, theft, robbery and assault.

Once again a racist attack of unabated brutal proportions that won't be seen as such as the "poor" guy was fired.

  • glors.phuti - 2012-09-08 17:17

Except that he stabbed her what did she done or say before that.and by the way the man is from zimbabwe.where is south african man who is supposed to clean the company?they are unemployed.zimbaweas are killers, robbers, hijackers, rapist I can mention all.their fingerpring are not showing anywhere!!be careful guys!!!!

The story says a Mozambican national, Zimbabwe is not a province of Mozambique. Its not correct to label foreigners as criminals outright. Go to Correctional services all over the country, you find who is filling up the jails. A person will chose a job of his or her choice, you can't force all South Africans to be cleaners, some will be and others not. The most important thing to learn in life is to treat your workers fairly and well. Just because a person is working for you it does not mean he or she is a lesser being. There are thugs in America, UK, Zambia, SouthAfrica, Lesotho etc

      punungwe - 2012-09-08 18:47

Eish!!! Some people cannot live without seeing Zimbabwe behind every shadow. There is nowhere in the story where it says the man is from Zimbabwe. Besides why do people never mention the thousands of Zimbabwean engineers, doctors, mechanics and other skilled professionals who are busy keeping South Africa working?

      johann.oosthuizen.980 - 2012-09-08 19:49

Why don't you all go back to your Communist dung-heaps. Zimbabwean professionals who keep South Africa working. Asseblief!!

      Stormkaap - 2012-09-08 21:10

The locals are lazy..dont wanna work and want hand outs

  • pearl.boasi - 2012-09-08 17:22

Hmm I think this dude wanted to go to prison, instead of being a jobless foreigner. There is free food and Dstv in prison.

Strange that Cosatu and co say nothing about black on white murders and attacks but have a lot to say in the few and far cases where a black was the victim, and then afterwards it was proved in court that the white was innocent after all and that the charges were made up lies!

  • fakazikagiso.ndlovu - 2012-09-08 18:36

Chilling stuff, he deserves a stiff sentence. Wouldn't the death penalty work to reduce such senseless acts of violence.

Natasha is a friend of my aunt. What they also failed to report in the article is that she was only the payroll clerk. She was given the orders from management. He stabbed her 7 times and they also had to sew 4 of her fingers back on as she fought so hard fight him off. Her cheek bones are crushed from the fire extinguisher. She is a mother of 2, and was just doing her job!!!

  • Rolisizwe Lunika - 2012-09-08 20:13

@lwandle,take it easy with that panga, this what I always say that most of the people who commit these violent petty crime are foreigners, why do people still insist on hiring them over our locals, these foreigners have nothing to lose chances this is back safely in mozambique, they kill here and go back and there is no consequences of some sort,PLEASE HIRE SOUTH AFRICAN AND BE SAFE

  • carolyn.dewrance - 2012-09-08 20:16

Time to get rid of all these illegal immigrants send them back to their own countries. Or don't employ them in your company, garden or in your house. If you are looking to be attacked and have them in your employ you are looking for trouble. Delete me I dont care its on my face book page as well

  • Rolisizwe Lunika - 2012-09-08 20:31

There are plenty south africans who are un-employed,I am 1 of the hard working people I've ever met,I live by the values where Honesty and Integrity is not an option but I am un-employed but Employers chose foreign nationals over us and we remain un-employed,

  • ernest.lwandle - 2012-09-08 20:54

Noody will ever will ever clean this country except ourselves talking about all races we must protect oure farmes because because they produce some food for us, oure miners /oure cleaners/ enginiers/housekeepers/ animals/rivers even if is through mob justice seek and tied of politicians they make us fight among oureselves and stay so far

      John - 2012-09-08 21:29

WE need to look after each other. Stuff whatever our ethnic group. If we do this WE outnumber the criminals by nine to one so WE can certainly keep them under control and isolated from the good people. Let's face it WE generally know who the thugs are, WE need to to develop a WILLINGNESS to HELP and CARE for our fellow men and women! If WE do this then the police can serve a useful function!

  • John - 2012-09-08 21:19

How are our protectors supposed to PREVENT these CRIMES? Our neighbors, our co workers, concerned passers by who are WILLING to help are who WE have to rely on. The POLICE can only come along afterwards to SWEEP up the mess. How does this help to save the victim? WE need a peace officer on every corner whom WE will assist in crime PREVENTION. The lazy fat thugs who do not respond because there is no vehicle are a waste of time and space. WE do not need them! WE need PEACE OFFICERS!

  • ernest.lwandle - 2012-09-08 21:22

  • Khetha Hlophe - 2012-09-09 04:59

4 foreigners can share a thousand rand amongst them while locals want a thou each. Its a sound business strategy but be prepared to die when things get worse.\r\nForeigners have little to no remorse.

  • edgar.mooi - 2012-09-09 05:36

Not so long ago I had warned a game farm owner about trusting 3 Zimbabweans guards looking after his rhinos and yet he ignored me. About 3 weeks back 3 rhinos are poached by the same guards and they have fled the country.

  • Tom van Niekerk - 2012-09-09 10:17

  • christina.setloboko - 2012-09-10 12:48

this guys from Moz they are full of violence, if you hire them you cant fire them and if they are tired of working they rob you and leave you near death, I wish there can be more control of people entering our country, because they can do anything they want and leave without a trace, BUT this is only a wish. remember what they did to 1 year old and he nanny.
