Johannesburg - Two police officers were shot and wounded in a gun battle with alleged ATM bombers in Witbank on Tuesday, Mpumalanga police said.

They were shot at when they went to investigate after hearing a massive explosion while on routine patrol, Captain Leonard Hlathi said.

It's been like that for a while, with highway heist or FG robberies, what changed was police got more heavely armed to stop this robbiers, but because criminals in this country are forever finding new ways of commiting crime they moved to bombing ATMs, once the police find a more effective way of stopping this ATM bombing, this criminals will find another way of getting money. They moved from guns to bombs, what next rocket luanchers.

They blow up a couple of ATMs, shoot at police and are still referred to as 'alleged ATM bombers'?

ey broer, thats law. once proven guilty in a court of law, then they become "ATM bombers". For now they are called "allege ATM bombers".

yeah @Felix start reading your constitution, there is an abridged version - dankie baas

      Felix - 2011-03-02 12:43

"In their zeal to protect the rights of the accused, newspapers and law enforcement officials sometimes misuse alleged. Someone arrested for murder may be only an alleged murderer, for example, but is a real, not an alleged, suspect in that his or her status as a suspect is not in doubt. Similarly, if the money from a safe is known to have been stolen and not merely mislaid, then we may safely speak of a theft without having to qualify our description with alleged." - I doubt you've even read the abridged version Matla
